The ARM Electronics PCDVR16A400G480 is a CCTV recording system consisting of a 16-channel DVR card and software installed in a top of the line, rack mountable Windows computer. This type of system has a number of advantages over a standalone DVR. First off, it allows operators to navigate system controls using the Windows operating system that they are already familiar with, along with the convenience of using a mouse and keyboard. It also makes it easy to upgrade the included hard drive or CD/DVD burner to a bigger or better one should the need arise. Users will also find it easy to install any future firmware upgrades that the manufacturer may release.

Key Features

• MPEG-4 Compression: Given its ability to generate quality video images while keeping file sizes to a minimum, MPEG-4 is the preferred compression method for use in DVRs. In practical terms this means that demanding CCTV environments will get the high resolution images they need to better identify people and objects. At the same they won't have to worry about prematurely running out of hard drive space or getting bogged down in a network traffic jam.

• Built-In DVD-R/W: A built-in DVD burner greatly enhances DVR functionality. It allows event footage to be easily copied to an optical disc for quick viewing on a PC or for archiving purposes.

• 480 FPS Recording Speed: Video is captured at speeds up to 480 FPS for the combined channels. This means that even with all channels occupied, users will get a maximum recording speed of 30 FPS per camera. The primary benefit of this is that the more frames there are available, the better the chances are of finding one exhibiting the most identifying characteristics. Naturally, an operator can choose a lower frame rate in order to conserve hard drive or network resources.

• Remote Network Access with PTZ Control: As with a stand alone DVR, by connecting the host PC to a network, users can access the computer from a remote Internet location to view live and recorded images as well as to change system settings. Users will also be able to remotely operate the motorized PTZ and focus functions of compatible dome cameras.

• Motion Detection: Built into the DVR is a motion detection function that can be used to trigger recording and/or alarm alerts. Motion detection parameters can be set universally across all channels or specifically for an individual camera.

• 2-Way Audio: Audio from two cameras can be recorded along with their video. Audio can also be sent and received over a network, an important feature in applications requiring the ability to communicate verbally from a remote Internet location.

• Auto System Restarting: An internal watchdog function continuously monitors the health of the DVR to ensure that users are not caught unawares by a sudden malfunction. One of the watchdog system's functions is to reboot the computer at the first sign of inconsistent operation.
