The Back-UPS ES 10-Outlet 750VA 120V Surge Protector and Battery Backup from APC provides power protection and battery backup for home computer systems. The power strip provides surge protection for all eight devices connected and battery backup for four of them. It yields an average output power capacity of 750VAC at 450W. Battery lasts up to 11.8 minutes at half-load capacity. APC offers guaranteed protection from surges and spikes with their lifetime $75,000 Equipment Protection Policy. - The user-replaceable battery provides 11.8 minutes of backup at half-load and 2.5 minutes of backup at full-load. This gives you enough time to safely shut down your computer in the event of a power outage.

I've only had this a week, but so far, I've been impressed. Easy to use and works like a charm. My one surprise was how big and heavy it is, but once you get it situated, that is no longer an issue. I purchased this as a power backup for my DVD recorder that, ironically, has no backup system built in. I live in a rural area and the power goes out on a regular basis, which means the programmed DVD schedule goes out too. Having the power backup provides great peace of mind.

You know the saying you get what you pay for. Well, this gives you everything and more. I love the fact that when I turn off our system the hardware we don't need running shuts off too.

This unit has more options than I use but could be beneficial in some circomstances. I like the fact that you can turn off that annoying warning beeper for when the power goes off and that it will shut down the system for you. You can also turn on and off the option for some outlets to turn off when not in use.
I have had APC units in the past and this one is by far a better product.

Used for personal computer; monitor; speakers; router; and modem. It's nice to have the 5 battery protected outlets, along with the 5 non-battery outlets. The 750VA is a nice high rating for the cost value. The synchronized auto shutdown of 3 non-battery outlets when the main is turned off is great for saving electricity.

Works great. The latest version of the included PowerChute software works great when used with the provided USB cable. The BE750 didn't cost that much more than just buying a non-OEM replacement battery for a 5-year old APC UPS that I was using that needed a new battery.
The Master Controlled Outlet is usefull. I have the monitor plugged into it and the PC into the Master Outlet. The monitor turns on and off with the computer. The PowerChute software lets you adjust for the wattage draw of the computer.

This is great. 10 inputs, that 8 more than my old surge protector. And the controlled by Master function is cool. I run a 27" iMac for my home video edit studio and I always have a few drives connected, a spare monitor, some speakers, and the computer hooked up to this.
The cord is long enough so I can put it on top of my desk and have easy access to power outlets and it just looks cool.
The only downfall is that when you want to use it, you need to plug in the extra wire to the back-up battery so the entire thing will work. Its really easy in the sense that you don't need to know anything to do it but it in an awkward spot. And it takes a while to plug in. But other than that, its perfect.

I use the UPS for our home computer, with a printer, screen, speakers, etc plugged into it. It has plenty of outlets. I really like the master control outlet, where you plug in the computer, which controls several other outlets and turns them off automatically when the computer is turned off. I have had the unit for three weeks and it works without any problem. Very easy to set up, including the software that saves your work in case of a power outage while the computer is unattended.
