The AKG Perception 220 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is a low cost, efficient solution for recording vocals and instruments in home and project studios. The microphone's cardioid element provides a generous pickup area while minimizing off-axis noise and feedback from nearby monitors, instruments and other sources.
A low-frequency roll-off filter switch reduces hum, ambiance and other low-frequency noise. Also featured, is a 20dB Pad switch that maximizes headroom when capturing high volume sources such as percussion instruments, speaker cabinets, etc. The included spider suspension shock mount protects against noise caused by vibration and shock.

I use a pair of these microphones in a home recording studio primarily with Woodwind instruments and Accordion.
The sound quality is phenominal. Every nuance with no distortion even when recording saxophone (which is quite loud). The package with the shock mount and everything is very well thought through. The only thing missing is a pop screen.
I can find no fault with these. If I had to... I guess they are too heavy for use outside the studio, but then they are studio mics.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone:
I'm very impressed with this microphone. It has a beautiful clear sound and is able to record very loud sounds no problem. Other microphones tend to pick up disturbances from lights, monitors and other electrical items, but this microphone does a very good job at protecting itself from them, I guess this has to do with the really solid metal body which also provides great protection making it a very strong, robust microphone. I haven't put it's robustness to the test yet but just holding it and feeling it I would say that this microphone would more than likely withstand some pretty rough treatment.
It also looks great!! haha. :)

Like to use it for video voice over work. It's the best you can get for the price. Quality is amazing. Add a pop filter and no way you can do better for the price!

Used this mic to record vocals and acoustic guitar on two of my albums. It is a very nice sounding mic. I compared it to my Nuemann TLM-103 ([$]), and (to me) the Perception 220 sounds better. We are using it in a 6x6 vocal booth, btw.

I use the Perception 220 to record in my music classroom. It has a great range for the sounds we create. Anything from whispering rhymes to playing loud Drum/Percussion pieces.

Unless you have a 1.000.000 dollars studio, you have no way to find any problem about this mic. Powerful, clean and treasurer sound. Very air and warm at the same time.
No regret at all.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone:
We are an acoustic trio with Mandolin, Guitar, Upright Bass and Soprano and Harmony vocals. This mic lets us perform just like our practice sessions where we stand facing each other and listen while we harmonize. A very real sound. Not a powerful mic but good for medium rooms and small crowds.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone:
I use this in my home studio to record acoustic guitar, and vocals. It works great for both. I like that it comes with a case and the mic mount with an adapter for both sizes of mic stands.
It has a full sound and seems to pick up everything. If you know anything about mics you'll know how sensitive condenser mics can be and this one is no exception. If there is a computer on in the same room it will sound like a lawn blower on the recording, so keep that in mind.

Comments about AKG Perception 220 Cardioid Condenser Studio Microphone:
It's great, it does what it's supposed to do, works, and gives nice sound quality. It sounds excellent when used on acoustic guitars and vocals. It isn't like pro studio quality, but it is worth way more in my opinion, more like a $600-$700 mic, but that's just my opinion!

For the price this is a great mic. AKG is known for good stuff and this lives up to the expectation. I've used it for electric and acoustic guitar so far, as well as vocals. Very clean and responsive. Would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable all around recording mic.

Bought it as a cheaper alternative to the AKG 2000B. The performance is almost identical. With the extras (the case and spider mount), you can't go wrong. I am very satisfied.
