i have three of these in raid 0 and they are fast.
plan on buying a fourth very soon, excellent for gaming. I believe they are the fastest drive you can get, short of a ssd.

I use three of these drives in a RAID5 array. I recently had one of these fail. Due to the RAID5 I experienced no downtime except having to power down to remove and replace the faulty drive. These are one of the fastest drives on the market. Although relatively low in capacity compared to many newer drives, my primary concern is not to lose data. I'd like to say this was a reliable drive but I had one fail within 2 years of purchase. Granted, hard drives will all eventually fail but I feel 2 years is a short time. [...] and I purchased this one so I'd have a hot spare.

I recently bought an i3/8Gb computer and promptly began upgrading which included switching out my boot drive with the 10K Rpm 300GB VelociRaptor reserving the original 7200 Rpm 1TB drive for media and data storage. I was shocked and amazed the moment I turned on the machine. The boot-up speed nearly doubled, Win-7 popped right up and all software blazed including the video editing program that worked much better than before. The install was easy with absolutely no hesitation in startup. VelociRaptor is the way to go for anyone looking for dramatic performance upgrades.

Had a prior boot-program hard drive fail and had to install the VelociRaptor to get the computer up and running. Very easy to install, quiet running (at least in my insulated tower), and quick access/quick boot-up. [...] I'll probably convert this to a dedicated photo/video drive, hopefully improving edit/save times vs the current 7200 rpm drive currently holding all data.

I've been wanting this drive ever since I found out about it months ago. Now I'm glad I finally have it! It's a tiny hard drive like the ones in the laptops and sits on a heatsink. It's quiet for the most part, but sometimes I can hear the seeking.

Easily installed the Internal SATA HD in my PC running WIN 7 64 bit in less than 15 minutes from the time I finished reading the instructions (very simple to follow) to rebooting the machine. Immediately saw a visible increase in the system speed when running apps I installed on the 10 k rpm HD. Wish I had done this when I first bought my PC. I will never have an HD in any PC I own that is less than 10k rpm. I'm lookng forward to trying out the 15ks and higher when they become more affordable!

Don't believe comments saying this HD is not quiet and is difficult to install - all you need to be is just 10% smarter than the hardware you are using - I am very satisified with the VelociRaptor - great buy!!!!

Due to the ever increasing need for computer speed, i found that the velociraptor is an excellent hard disk for operating systems. Tested on XP, Vista and Windows 7, ther verdict is that by far western digital has produced an HDD which is a pleasure to work with.

Interesting. This stunning drive is a 2.5 inch form factor drive mounted in a 3.5 inch form factor aluminum heat sink that looks very robust. Unfortunately the backplane is non standard and can't interface with standard drive trays. If your machine connects with SATA cables then don't hesitate to buy it. B and H were outstanding with their return policy; buy with confidence from them.

I use this drive as the system drive in my Window Home Server (another great product). This is a great product, if you want file serving be as quick as possible for the client machines.

I bought two of these. The first was an oem which performed as described- FAST. So I ordered a retail box. My heart stopped when I pulled it out of the standard FedEx pack and saw the[...]packaging. I almost sent it back without opening it- sure that the toy inside couldn't be the same serious piece of equipment I had bought oem. Amazingly it was, and after config into raid 0 even dog Vista wuns like a wabbit! Partitioned the raid and put XP64 on half- better than OK! Is a fair match for my i7 extreme and 1600 ddr3 ram homemade rig. Anyway, it'll do until they get SSD's out of mockup. Quiet for a 10K, and seek is better than tolerable.The cooling mantle keeps the drive really cool and has the kind of understated look that satisfies the more discriminate. If only they had made it in red;-D

This drive is easy to install, quiet, and cool. Windows seems to boot faster. I've had the drive a few weeks and have had zero problems. B&H had the cheapest price for the retail package, the same price for an oem drive at other retailers.

Put your Operating System on this Drive, You'll be amazed on how fast windows will boot up. .. Approx. 50 to 60% Faster than standard 7200 RPM ....
A must have for the professionals.

Bought product mainly for Photoshop.I have a 150gb Raptor I was using for a scratch disk then added the 300gb for OS and programs and needless to say I'm smiling a lot!
