Comments about Apple Customized 24" iMac Desktop Computer:
As an independent filmmaker I am always struggling to find good equipment that I can afford. This 24" Imac was purchased to edit my first HD feature film. This great little machine combines a fantastic display, built in DVD/CD burner for me to make dailies of footage for other crew members and a powerful processor. Being last years model the processor is .06% slower, has a slightly smaller hard drive and only one firewire 800 port and instead of two, oh yeah and it's [$] cheaper! Bottom line, a whole lotta bang for the few bucks I had to spend! [...]

iMac 24”
Pros: Big beautiful screen, fast, easy set-up, smoking performance for an all in one computer, OS is light years ahead of the rest.
Cons: Can’t use it while lounging around the pool like my iBook. Hard to nurse a cold one and steady that giant 24” screen at the same time. Keep it on your desk. Upgrading after the fact is difficult to impossible—except for the ram—get the most at the beginning—including the ram as it will be part of the package and you won’t regret it.
If you’re a Mac/PhotoShop user and haven’t upgraded in the last few years, and don’t have the pockets for a dual quad core Mac Pro and 30” screen plus all the accouterments to make it fly into the stratosphere, Apple has released a machine that is better than second place.
The 3.06ghz chip set, 4 gigs of ram and nVida video card make this a heavy lifter in the graphics department. Migrating PhotoShop CS2 to the new machine was a piece of cake—call Adobe TechSupport for help if you have any questions—and Rosetta allows this program run stable and productive on the Intel chip. I haven’t upgraded to CS4 yet but expect it to run faster on this computer. One of the best tests is to render some 3-D, but alas none of my older 3-D software will run on my new machine, bollocks. Second choice is a 3-D game.
What I had in the stable, that would run with a patch for Intel Macs, was Myst V, End of Ages. I cranked everything to it’s highest setting and let the eye candy fly. The 24 watt sound system and built in speakers are very functional and complimented the experience of the game nicely. If you must rattle the windows you know what to do. Another test of system heft is a flight sim. I bought X-Plane 9 and although I’m in the early stages of setting it up, a few test flights have shown that this machine will make for some friendly skys.
If you’re in the market for an upgrade , or a cross grade from Windows, this is the computer and operating system to take it to the next level.

Comments about Apple Customized 24" iMac Desktop Computer:
For the price you are paying for an amazingly fast computer. The computer is super smooth and huge hard drives makes it easier to store photos, multimedia. Great computer also for photoshop. Filters render quickly because of the huge scratch disk and the 4GB of ram. In terms of video card, it is one of the best in the market. The speakers built in are suprisingly amazing with deep bass and good treble. Only compliant about the computer is the glare on the monitor but that can be remedied by purchasing an anti glare screen. Because monitor is glossy, it cannot be color calibrated. So you'll need another monitor if you are doing color work.
