The K 271 MK II studio headphones from AKG are an ideal solution for working on stage or in a studio. These professional stereo cans feature patented Varimotion speakers to provide realistic sound with a wide frequency response.
The self-adjusting headband provides a secure and comfortable fit. A switch inside the headband mutes the audio as soon as the headphones are taken off to prevent unwanted sound leakage. The on-ear earpieces can be covered with your choice of leatherette or velvet earpads for excellent comfort and ambient noise reduction.
The headphones come with two detachable cables; one straight and one coiled. Each cable has a gold-plated 3.5mm stereo mini plug for connecting to a variety of devices. A 1/4" adapter plug is also included for connecting to pro-level gear.

I use the K271 headphones for mixing my audio projects. The sound is great! They are pretty comfortable, though I have to take them off periodically to give my ears a break. Over long periods of time they start to be of slight discomfort, but that can be said about any headphones.
The sound quality is great. The low end may be a little lean, as others have stated. But the response is pretty flat and the sound is awesome.
One plus is that the headphones "turn off" as soon as you remove them from your head. The way the headband is designed allows a switch to be activated when putting them on, which allows the audio to pass through. Pretty cool feature.
I'm digging these headphones.

Mine are still made in Austria, too bad the new ones are made in China. But nonetheless... These are excellent tracking headphones. Not very useful for casual listening, though they sound great, but not nearly as comfortable for any lengthy listening like an open back can would be.

Comments about AKG K 271 MK II Professional Studio Headphones:
the sound is accurate, clear and true to life. the experience is quite honestly boring. Some things play better on these than other. Not for those that enjoy bass reproduction or enhancement in their music.
They are very comfortable. Even with eyeglasses.
They are light and if the music stops you may forget you have them on.
A little costly for made in China. But everything is. M I C
A more balanced headphone can be had for less that provides a listening experience that is less sedate.
I imagine that if someone had a use to hear music from whatever source unbiased and pure these would be the device of choice.
I do enjoy the headphones. I use the pair with an old cd player that has built in headphone amp.
I do like them. I would have a difficult time recommending them to someone without a long explanation.

Great if you need to cut down on noise in your work environment. If not, I'd choose headphones with smaller that don't cover your ears.

I use these to listen to music and play guitar.
They sound great, really clean sound representation. Very solid in quality. My single complaint is a very small one; the plastic makes a popping sound when you move around, and because they're closed headphones, its pretty loud. The nice thing is that it stops doing it after they've been on your head for awhile, hopefully it will break in after a few more months. They are very comfy too. I have pretty big ears and most headphones kill ny ears, but not these ones. Great cans.

This is a fantastic option for mixing sound for videos nd music if you can`t afford great nearfield monitors and great acoustics in your studio. It`s flat response is really impressive.

Well, this is a upgrade from K271. This time, the audio cut works properly when you take out from your head. The sound response is the same as the old model... a very nice quality for recording vocals without to leak sound to the mic.

I guess my expectations were pretty high when I decided to buy these. They're good headphones with good quality sound. They're also quite comfortable. They didn't really blow me out of the water though in terms of sound quality. Still, they're much better than the Sony headphones I was using.

I haven't owned these long but can report I like them. They are light enough to wear all day and noise cancellation is great (esp if you work in a noisy office). Sound quality is true and the fit is comfortable. You can't ask or much more than that.
Only four stars because sometimes they cut out due to the automatic noise kill when you are not wearing them. A quick tap and they're going again.

For a full size closed can, this is the best sound I could fine.
