I just bought another one for my daughter and grandson who are in MA with me. We all Love this web-cam. It is very clear and I really can't think of anything bad about it.

This web cam is a delight to use. The software is well written even for the novice; the graphics are well designed; and provides a good tutorial. The software is extremely easy to use, and the set-up is minimal.
The picture quality and focus are excellent. There is only a slight delay in the image, which is normal and common to inexpensive web cams.
It is compact and fits perfectly on the top of my laptop. There is nothing negative about this unit, and I highly recommend it for office use, and for those on-the-go.

My wife and I use this webcam for Skype, Yahoo IM, and Office Communicator. It works really well for all three. The camera works great in low light. I've been in completely dark rooms with only the laptop lighting my face and the video is on par with that during the daylight. I read the reviews about the "bloatware" that comes with it and decided to let Vista install its own drivers and it runs just fine. I have had no issues as a result of doing that. It performs better than some more expensive webcams that I have seen, but it is also just a webcam with video and sound. If you are expecting more functionality, you should look elsewhere. Great webcam for the price.

I use this camera on my desk for for Skype. For the price I find the video quality very good. Low light performance and auto-adjustment to changing lighting conditions is responsive and works well. Video and photo capture software that came with the camera work as advertised. True plug-n-play. The mount that is attached to the camera is flexible and holds well. The camera can swivel on the mount but the freedom of movement is pretty limited in the horizontal plane. No movement at all in the vertical plane. You cannot go wrong spending [$] for this camera. I love it. My last webcam was 10 years old. I'm amazed at how clear the picture is and how easy it was to get it to work. The price on B&H was far lower than anywhere else i looked too. I have recommended this model to others.
The only thing i woudl change about it- is it's tied to MSN messenger. I use it for Skype, so sometimes i accidently start up MSN messenger and have to close it down so i can get it to open using Skype.

This is the 3rd VX-5000 webcam, because both my wife and I love the camera. I gave a 4 star because the base - which acts as the mount to place on top of the laptop screen could have been designed better. Perhaps a clip type device to securely fasten the web cam to the laptop screen/top instead of simply setting on top with only the weight of the cable providing the support to stay on the laptop screen.
