I bought these headphones to replace a broken pair of Sennheiser HD280's at work (I bought a pair of the Senn's as well) where I didn't need such a heavy duty pair of phones. These are nice and light with pretty decent sound quality. The overall tone is a little high but not too harsh. The headphones fit very well with the "floating" headband and are very comfortable for extended wear.
These don't really fit as tightly as the Sennheisers, and their ear-pads are not quite as soft/plush, so they don't cut as much ambient noise out. I wouldn't recommend for loud environments. As reference headphones where there isn't a lot of background noise or as office/studio headphones these work pretty well.

Bought these for [$] in Canada. Overall sound is OK, but definitely lacks definition and space, sounds quite flat. For some unknown acoustic reason, listening music with these headphones tired my ears after 15 min and the volume is not even loud. So i got them exchanged for ATH-M35 which cost 30$ more, but is MUCH better.

Nothing great here, flat, all plastic cans that fit a little loose. I would say they sound bang on the money for [$]. Your better getting the mdr-v6 or the koss professional cans for a little more. If they do not break in well I might slang them for something better. Flat sound profile

I'm a poor college kid, doing home recording for my band. Quality is crisp and clear, even when mic-ing amplifiers. The only complaint is that outsiders can hear what you're listening to as well as the listener can. All frequencies are heard well, and there's a comfortable amount of reverb. Terrific overall quality for the price.

I also bought the AKG K99 for the same price as these. I prefer those. The K77 has a bit more bass but it doesn't have the clarity of the K99. Wish I could return the K77's easily but the return shipping cost was despicable. I'm forced to gift them to someone or keep them for possible future applications where I need a pair of closed-back headphones :-/

These headphones are essential for monitoring your live audio in the field. Very comfortable to wear for extended periods, and so light you can hardly tell you are wearing them.

I give it 4 stars only because they're not top of the line headphones, that said, they're the best you can get for the money. They're great for studio use and outdoor (filming on set) use. My favorite parts about them: one durable chord coming out of the left earphone as opposed to two thin wires (one coming out of each side); they cover the ears completely; long chord; and they fit comfortably on the head. They're not noise canceling but they do a real decent job - sound is good quality. Not too much base, but enough. They are plastic and very light but I quickly learned to like the weight.
Like I said, they're not top of the line but they're well worth what you pay for them.

We use this product for soundbooth editing and video editing. My husband has also found this pair of headphones superior when he is wanting to play his video games on the PS3. We couldn't be happier with this product.

I bought these headphones needing them to listen to music while rehearsing the drums. They're everything I'd hoped for at this price. They're nice and strong at mid frequencies so I don't have to really crank the sound to be able to hear over my drumming. They aren't noise cancelling, but the closed over the ear style does a good job at keeping noise reduced anyway. Thanks, AKG!
