The N1630w 15.6" 720p LCD TV from Viewsonic is the perfect compact display/ PC Monitor for areas where space is tight such as dorms, kids' rooms, dens, kitchens and other small rooms. The 15.6" display features 1366 x768 resolution with 10,000:1 contrast, 5ms response time and wide viewing angles. The integrated ATSC/QAM tuner receives digital terrestrial and cable broadcasts. Integrated stereo speakers are each powered by 2.5W for a complete multi-media experience.

I got this TV for the kitchen, and all I can say good about it is that it's small enough to fit in the space I had and it does work.
The bad points:
Viewing angle is terrible. It only looks good if you're straight in front of it. If you're looking slightly down at it, the picture is terribly washed out, if you're looking up at it the image goes dark and dirty. Move left or right and it gets washed out and colors go wrong.
It doesn't sense whether a TV signal is 4 by 3 or 16 by 9. You have to set the aspect manually every time. So, if you have been watching an SD program in 4 by 3, when you go to an HD channel, everything is squeezed.
If you input a channel by number on the remote, it remembers that channel when you use the up-down buttons and you have to go to the menu to remove it. Also, if you enter a single number, it goes to that analog channel (of which there are none in my area) and adds it to the list. Horrible.
The sound is very bad. Everything sounds like it's coming over a speaker phone. Intelligible for news, but that's about it. Music sounds tinny and horrible.
I would return it, but it's just not worth the trouble as little as I use the kitchen TV. My advice: don't buy it.

This LCD TV is the best picture for the size of TV. Other, larger TV's might be better, but I tested several and there where no better in the 15" to 16" or smaller range. I does have VGA and HDMI (which I have not compared to a stardard computer monitor, but for a straight video source or cable tv it is excellent! The sound is a little wimpy (as many in this size are), but I crank up the base. Also, a good price.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter, who complained that her little old 13" full-screen TV didn't have a second input to let her hook up a DVD player in addition to her VCR. (Yeah, yeah, I know, this is 2012, bear with me...)
I think my daughter likes the TV just fine, the only thing that disappointed me was that it seems so small. Turns out, the height of a 13" full-screen is 7.8 inches, while the height of this 15.4" wide-screen is only about 7.7 inches... just barely the same.
But of course, when you were watching a 2.35:1 video on VCR, it would have been "formatted to fit your screen" and it showed up 7.8 inches high on the 13" TV. The same movie in widescreen on the 15.6" Viewsonic gets letterboxed, and the image itself comes out being only 6" high, significantly smaller than on the 13" TV.
Long story short, if you want all your movies to be the same size or bigger on a 16:9 TV as they were on a 13" full-screen TV, you need to get at least a 21" TV!!! Had I realized that 21 is the new 13 for TVs, I probably wouldn't have bought this for my daughter.

This TV worked out great. B&H shipped fast. My husband mounted it on the eliptical and I am now spinning away. The TV has lots of imput options which helped. It also holds it's picture even with the vibration from the machine. The only negative is it would not be good for viewing from an angle. As soon as you are off center a little (10-15 degrees) the picture goes garyish.

I am very happy with this monitor for my home office. The picture quality is definitely up to par with what I would expect from ViewSonic. The price was very reasonable (actually less then I paid for a 4:3 19" monitor 18 months ago). The only thing that could be better is the menuing interface
Not as intuitive as past monitors I have but eventually figured it out.

I use this in my kitchen, the sound stinks and off axis viewing is terrible, but we knew that already from other reviews.
I am now shipping this TV back to Viewsonic for the SECOND TIME since August 2010. The power supply is bad, I think. One must send this back to Viewsonic at the cost of 20.00 dollars to get it repaired under warranty and a few weeks later, with no way to see how the return is progressing, it appears.
So I am out an extra 40.00 dollars for a TV that cost me less than 160 after rebate.
