This Ikelite housing for the Canon Powershot SD890 IS digital camera is an injection molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. Camera installation is quick and simple, and the o-ring seal can be checked visually through the clear housing. The housing is sized and weighted for near neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater.
A flash diffuser is included to improve lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used underwater. For optimum lighting underwater an optional external strobe is recommended. Ikelite strobes are brighter, recycle faster and offer wider coverage than the camera's flash. Being farther from the camera lens, the strobe reduces the illumination of particles in the water which helps eliminate backscatter.
Optional wide-angle lens adapters are not recommended for this model. Lens throw prevents effective use of external wide-angle lenses.

Comments about Ikelite 6147.89 Underwater Housing f/ Canon Powershot SD890 IS:
I took the case to Fiji and snorkelled and scuba dove to 25-30m. It worked well and took good pictures. If you don't have the settings set ahead of putting it into the housing there is no way to rotate the 'wheel' to select the correct mode. Other than that it's easy to use. I had issues with the lens fogging up if I went from the 'cold' water to the warm air. To avoid the fogging I made sure there was as little moisture inside as possible to begin with and then once I went under I did not bring it out again unless I was not going under anymore. It is tough if not impossible to clean the lens when in the water/in a boat/outside of the hotel room... especially if you're wet.

Comments about Ikelite 6147.89 Underwater Housing f/ Canon Powershot SD890 IS:
I used this for a week in Cozumel diving an average of 85 feet a day. I never used any attatchments and my photo's came out better than a guy using a $2K camera. There was an occasional black mark on the edge of the photo but it was easily cropped out. Even worked great on night dives! I was diving very strong currents and it did take a few dives to get used to the controls but overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Comments about Ikelite 6147.89 Underwater Housing f/ Canon Powershot SD890 IS:
The controls are just like on the camera. One very major drawback is that if you use the camera's flash, you MUST use the deflector, otherwise, half the pix will come out black. This is a major design flaw in the housing based on where the flash on the camera is located. The camera's flash does not have enough power to give good color saturation, even at two feet. Very poor design with regard to the camera's flash..
Good for use in bright clear water only, like Hawaii and the Carib..
