The Hitachi CP-X401 projector boasts 3,000 lumens but weighs a very light 7.7 pounds. This versatile projector is easy to install, or it can be used on a desktop. The CP-X401 features seven watts of built-in audio, eliminating the need for external speakers; and the Audio Pass Through function allows audio to play while the projector is in standby mode. The projectors maintain a low noise rating of 29dB in Whisper Mode.
The CP-X401 features a new 2000 hour hybrid filter on the side of the chassis. Additionally, the lamp door is located on the top of the projector for easy replacement if the projector is ceiling-mounted. The CP-X401 also offers longer lamp life (3,000 hours in bright mode; 4,000 hours in standard mode).
The CP-X401 brings a new level of ease to educators who want to customize the projector. Hitachi's proprietary My Buttons functionality allows two buttons on the projector to be programmed to execute any projector command. The projector also offers Input Source Naming, allowing users to rename input sources to fit their needs. An improved remote control now features a My Source/Doc Camera button, allowing users to directly choose an input source, or document camera. The new remote control also features volume buttons.
The CP-X401 features Automatic Vertical Keystone, which detects the angle of the projector and corrects the image. The projectors also offer Whiteboard Mode, providing adequate clarity while limiting brightness for use with whiteboards. Day Time Mode allows users to clearly see the images in a bright environment, while Blackboard Mode offers better color balance when displaying an image on a colored background.
The CP-X401 also features a Transition Detector, which requires a password to operate the projector when it is moved from a fixed position. The CP-X401 offers PIN Lock and MyScreen Lock functions, as well as a security bar that enables the use of a heavy chain to prevent theft.

Comments about Hitachi CP-X401 LCD Multimedia Projector:
I replaced an older 2000 lumen projector that was inadequate due to all the ambient light from flourescent lighting and indirect sunlight. This Hitachi has a great picture! The 3000 lumen output is excellent. I highly recommend this projector!

Comments about Hitachi CP-X401 LCD Multimedia Projector:
This unit is well built, easy to set up and use. Intuitive menus, etc. Installed in a church for multi-media presentation and playback, etc.
Unit does not have a long enough zoom range for most common uses. (Has to be very close to screen to zoom small enough.)
Also, it doesn't focus as sharp as I would like.

Comments about Hitachi CP-X401 LCD Multimedia Projector:
I own a legal video company that displays videos in courts of law before, juries, judges and attorneys. I used to spread three monitors around. The back breaking work and the cabling became impossible. I achieve better results with this product.
It's been in operation for a month and I receive nothing but compliments. The picture quality is amazing. You don't even need the lowest light. The 7 watt speaker system is a great aid. However, because of the size of most courtrooms, I do use external speakers. Smaller rooms -- the internal speaker will suffice. The unit itself is lightweight.
The only negative comment is the zoom ring is limited. You are better off moving the unit closer or farther away than using the zoom ring.
Other than that, I would highly recommend this projector.
PS: Don't do what I did --- don't skimp on the screen.

Comments about Hitachi CP-X401 LCD Multimedia Projector:
I use this projector 3 times a day every other day. I love this projector. The quality picture and most important, the ease of use. It's a little bulky to travel around with, but for the quality of the unit, that's easy to get around. I have suggested this unit to almost a dozen people already.
