There is no other lens cap available for the 14-24mm f/2.8 and as the lens can not accept filters to protect it, this is the only protection available that I know of. The cap slips on easily, and that is both good for ease of use and bad that mine slips off too easily. There is no way to secure it to the camera, and that makes it easy to lose. Also the construction is flimsy and scratches easily. I have two spares, just in case I lose my original. I would suggest that with a lens this expensive and vulnerable that Nikon comes up with a better solution for a lens cap.

A little bit more tight than original cap, so it is a very good thing!

Lost my original cover at a shoot of a 15,000 sq. ft. house. Needed a new one to protect this lens. It fits even tighter than the original, which is a good thing. I was replacing like for like, but am happy.

We had a previous lens cover like this which broke after dropping our camera. It helped protect lens. Snug fitting too. Glad to see it is now cheaper than its old price tag of [$] as well.

The cap for the Nikon 14-24 lens , I have to say is a rather cheap solution for an expensive piece of gear. The Sigma two part caps on their similar lenses seems like a much better quality product and it is cushioned at the point of contact so that it does not mar the fixed hood.

I lost the original cap that went with the lens during a shoot in Las Vegas and just got this Nikon replacement. I feel much better not worrying about 14-24mm's "big eye" all exposed for 3 or 4 weeks. It fits a lot snug that the original somehow, just as it should be as it does not slip easily. Good thing B&H carry these babies. I know I'll loose the cap again someday.

As far as I know this is the only lens cap solution for the 14-24. I really do not like this plastic cap, however. It often slips off when I pull the lens out of my bag or out of the lens case.
The cap on my old Sigma 15-30 is much nicer--metal with proper felt on the inside to stay on like it should.

This is a lens cap you will not be able to replace in the field, best to have a spare handy. The cap is the only way to protrect this wide angle lens.
