Obviously the most useful feature of this pack is how much it can hold. Heading abroad for ten days I was concerned about how I would carry everything I wanted to take with me. With ease I packed my laptop, several magazines, my camera (Nikon D200, 18-200 lens), a flash, charging apparatus for all equipment, munchies for the flight, my hat and mittens, tissue, etc. Trust me; it holds enough to keep you happy! After loading it up with 20+ pounds of gear, I carried it around without a problem. The padding for the equipment and the user is sufficient and very comfortable, and it fit into the overhead compartment of the aircraft. Although I used my sling bag for day trips, the Digital Rucksack is my new pal for big travel.

When I ordered I asked for the model that came with the mono-pod. So I was disappointed right away to find out I didn't get one. [...]The bag is well made and does a fine job of holding gear. I only have 1 dslr and 2 lenses. I see a problem coming when I get a large zoom or tele. It wont be able to be stored on the camera or in the camera compartment. i will store it in the extra space above or get a new bag.

I bought this backpack to take on a trip to Canada to carry my Canon 7D and my 17" laptop. The laptop compartment is a tight fit for a 17", but I think it just needs to be stretched out a little. With both the camera and laptop, it is rather heavy, but otherwise the bag is great! The camera section held my camera w/a zoom lens, as well as an additional zoom, extra battery, smaller point & shoot camera and the battery charger, filters, and extra memory card. Had enough room for the cables, as well as a change of clothing, wallet, and thumb drives, external hard drive. This little bag held everything I needed it to hold. It was great. Additionally, it came with a rain cover, which came in handy for the whale watching trip I took on a Zodiak boat. I would definitely refer this bag.

I use this backpack to transport my electronics. It has enough room for my camera and an extra lens (It would fit more, but that's all I have) and I can carry my computer it in as well. It's great for traveling, especially airplane travel as it has an extra pocket that can fit a book, ipod, sweater, or anything else you might want quick access to.

I travel for work and like to take my photo gear along, but those bag restrictions can be tough. This bag can handle my camera and some light gear, my laptop, and my purse or other what-nots.

I freelance on the weekends and use this bag to travel as well as store equipment. As for utility, it holds it all. Multiple lenses, flash, light meter, batteries, and one SLR. It's supposed to fit two SLR's, which is possible from a space perspective, but I hesitate without a cushion/divider to protect them from each other. Otherwise in love with the bag.

Comments about Kata DR-467 Digital Rucksack (Black with Green Accents):
I've tried a number of photo backpacks and I'm still looking for the one that's perfect for me, but this one comes close.
It's fairly comfortable for me although I'm still playing with the strap adjustments, and it holds a good amount of gear. I can fit my Canon 40D with a Sigma 17-70mm zoom attached, along with a Canon 28-135mm zoom and a Canon 75-300mm zoom in the main photo compartment. I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure I could get my Canon 580EX flash in, also. I can put my Canon 100-400mm zoom along with my wallet, a light jacket, bottle of water, extra CF cards and a few other small accessories in the top daypack compartment. There are also a number of other small pockets on the bag I haven't used yet.
I really like the D-Rings on the shoulder straps which allow you (with the right straps - mine are by Tamrac) to hang your camera from the backpack instead of a strap around your neck. This takes the strain off your neck and balances the backpack load, making it more comfortable to walk around taking pictures.
The negatives I have are that there isn't anyplace to easily attach a tripod. Also, the waist belt is narrower than on other photo backpacks I've used and I worry about how stable and sturdy it is. I found that if I slip out of the shoulder straps and leave the waist belt buckled, I can swing the bag around to the front to get at my gear. Since I am holding the bag with one hand and relying on the waistbelt to keep it stable while I grab another lens, a wider, more secure waist belt would be nice.
Overall, I really like the bag.

I am enjoying the product. The bag is well built, it accomodates all my gear (Nikon D90 + 18-200 lens + flash+ 17-50 lens) plus notebook and external hard drive, cables, etc. Very ergonomic. I highly recommend the product.

I have both a sling pack ( Lowepro) and a Tamrac Adventure photoback pack. I use my packs as both camera backpacks and also airline carry-ons for when I travel. I find my DR-467 to be the best compromise for my purposes that I have seen yet. The DR-467 is lighter and smaller outside than the Tamrac yet it carries almost as much equipment as well as more travel stuff ( book, MP3-Player, etc). It's camera compartment is more useable than the sling pack; the latter really is useful only for photo equipment as it has little ancillary storage. The camera insert is easily removeable which allows the pack to function as a daypack if that's what's needed at the time. Overall, the DR-467 appears to a superior design.
Only issue I have with the DR is the waist strap which appears to be less sturdy than the Tamrac equivalent.
The Kata DR-467 certainly merits a very close look by anyone who is looking for a photo backpack with multi-tasking in mind.

I used this backpack on my cruise. It's very attractive and cool looking. Although I didn't bring all my gears this time, all the pockets were used to store chargers, camcorders, wires. I am very pleased with it. Another smart feature is there's a strap on the back of the bag, you can throw it on top of the suitcase with rollers. An accident happened to my last camera bag, it fell off the suitcase, because it wasn't attached, and the UV lens on my camera broke.

I have been scouting for a new bag for the last year and this is it. This hybrid bag allows me to pack my DSLR with 4 lenses my flash and filters in a well padded, pivoting bottom compartment. The roomy upper compartment holds my 70mm-210mm zoom (in a separate padded soft case) along with all the other ancillary goodies. As well as a light jacket and snacks. The big draw for me was the padded back compartment which will just accommodate my 17" MacBook Pro when I fly, though I use the slot to carry a 32" collapsable reflector and gray card with me, into the field. Very well made at a great price! I was also able to secure my monopod to the outside.

After a few weeks with this bag I can give it my thumbs up. This is a bag with many functions. If you need a bag that will do more than just haul around 30lb of camera equipment this is the one. I fit my D300 with grip in the base. As long as a prime is hooked up to it I have no problems. With a longer lens like my Sigma 50-150 I have to completely reorganize the dividers or take off the lens and store it up top. This things will hold a TON of stuff. What's best is the bag has huge storage but it doesn't look huge when you wear it. Just another average size backpack.
If you like a 50/50 mix of camera and other stuff to carry around this is a great bag. If all you want to lug around is camera gear there are better choices. This is my everyday bag.

Right size, not too big, not too small. Enough to pack a D300, 3 normal lens and a few accessories. The upper compartment is not packed, so you will need to make your own protection if you want to use it to store additional lens (say a 70-200 f/2.8). Despite its relatively small size, it can fit my Macbook pro 17" comfortably.
Conclusion: it is great for travel light, enough for most people I think unless you are those who has a dozen lens or giant tele.
