I've found the Steddiepod to be a great addition to my video rig. I use it extensively as a monopod and height extender. When using it as a "steddie" device, the issue that arises with larger cameras is the weight is offcenter from the tripod screw mount. The Steddiepod has no built in way to compensate for this. The camera tends to spin horizontally when not center balanced. The offset balance plate allows you to shift the center of gravity of the camera. It takes some time of playing with it to find the correct mounting position. However, once you do, a few registration marks on the underside of the camera allows you pop it on and off as needed with minimal reset.
