AV Toolbox AVT-6071 HDMI Multi-Format Switcher
The AVT-6071 HDMI Multi-Format Switcher from AV Toolbox is a routing switcher that accepts (3) HDMI source signals and a variety of analog video signals and selectively routes them to (1) HDMI output display. The device up-converts the analog signals to HDMI to ensure compatibility with your display. Use this convenient unit to switch between HDMI and analog-video source devices without the need to repeatedly connect and disconnect components.
The switcher can be controlled via its front-panel buttons, RS-232 connectivity, or the included IR remote control. This unit will support HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and PC resolutions up to SXGA. This device is also HDCP-compliant (high-bandwidth digital-content protection). Video devices without this compliance often do not have a mechanism to decode HDCP and will relegate HDCP-protected content to snow or an inferior lower-resolution picture.

I have several devices that have s-video outputs. I needed to hook them up to a tv with HDMI inputs and no s-video inputs. I had purchased a more expensive unit from another vendor that did not work. This one does exactly what it is supposed to do. I can now watch laser discs and tapes on the tv. I can turn it on remotely and switch inputs remotely. The only downside is that s-video and composite video share audio inputs so I can't hook up my beta without using an audio switch. It also includes rack mount brackets. Unfortunately the screws that attach it to the unit are too short and seem to be an odd thread. I just retapped it for 8/32 and replaced the screws with slightly longer ones.

I needed to connect an older DVD player and Apple TV, and didn't want multi cables to the TV. This combines the inputs and sends through one HDMI, perfect for my use. Also, allows additional inputs for future expansion.

This Switcher is a great idea since it will up-convert many different inputs into one HDMI output. I bought it to use at my church. The problem I am having is that it takes too long to switch between devices. During a service I need to switch from a live camera to a PC and sometimes to a DVD player but it takes about 6 or 7 seconds for the device to find the input once I press the button and that is just too much lag time during a live event. I will have to spend well over $1000 and buy a Seamless Switcher to accomplish what I need. For home use or if the amount of time it takes to switch from one input to another doesn't matter than this switcher is a great buy for the money.

This is a great switch and met most of my needs. I have a DVI only TV and would have liked to see the switched audio available on external connector. This does a great job of upconverting S-Video, Composite and analog.
