The Gitzo GH3780QR Center Ballhead is a relatively lightweight magnesium ballhead that incorporates many innovative and state-of-the-art features. It is designed to match the range of high performance tripods available from Gitzo. Not only does it guarantee a high maximum support load, but it also offers many other improved features, such as: smoothness, minimized drift angle, low gravity center, greater tilt angles, compactness, ergonomics and safety.
Exceptionally smooth rotation, positive locking and rapid camera mounting are all features common to the Gitzo designed range of ballheads. The graduated base, with independent locking facilities permits perfect panoramic photography. Comments about Gitzo GH3780QR Center Ballhead with Quick Release - Supports 46.2 lbs (21kg):
This is my first high quality tripod set up. I love the legs I bought separately, but am not getting the performance I thought I would with this ball head. However, keep in mind I am not a pro. As I work with it more, my opinions may change. I am finding that when I use my Canon 100-400 lens with it, the stability just isn't there. It moves after I set it, so I have to compensate for that ahead of time, which is a pain. I wanted this for use with wildlife and sporting events, but am finding that it is neither fast or accurate. I am still giving it 4 stars however, because I am not sure how much of this is due to my experience level. If it wouldn't move after I set it, I would be much happier with it. The quick release also catches, and there are times it is quite difficult to remove my camera. I've used other peoples set ups, and while similar in design, they are much easier to use.

This was my first ballhead purchase I made, which was to be mounted on a monopod. This is one large and very easy to use ballhead and is built tough. I am looking forward to using this more in the field. Great buy!

Comments about Gitzo GH3780QR Center Ballhead with Quick Release - Supports 46.2 lbs (21kg):
The GH3780 center ball head with quick release works very well. It allows smooth movement in any direction, has bubble levels in two planes, locks the head with no movement or creep and allows independent panning. The quick release requires two actions (lever and button to be released) before the user can slide the camera / lens off the head.
Cons: The mounting screw for the camera / lens needs a retainer so the screw cannot drop off the mounting plate.
Great head.

I use it in sports photography. It's fast and accurate. It's easy to hold the camera with a telephoto lens and let it stop with only a quarter turn.
