The JuicedLink CX211 Camera Mountable Mixer / Preamplifier lets camcorder and prosumer camera owners connect professional microphones and line devices to their cameras. The mixer mounts to the base of camcorders and features two XLR inputs for balanced or unbalanced connection of microphones, recorders, additional mixers, etc.
A 1/8" (3.5mm) mini output and 9 inch (22.86cm) long cable (supplied) connect to the camera audio input. There are three gain settings and two attenuation knobs for controlling audio level. The High/Mid/Low gain settings help control signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in clear audio results with a low noise floor. The CX211 is powered with a 9V alkaline battery for up to 16 hours (not included) and supplied with an output cable and allen wrench.

I'm currently using this preamp w/ a Canon HF-S100 and Rode Videomic... the intent is to minimize the buzz when using the Canon RA-V1 LANC remote adaptor w/ an external mic. (There a known compatibility issue with the RA-V1 on certain HF-Sxxx models producing a "buzz" when connecting any external mic.) With this combination, the Juicedlink CX211 allows me to turn the camera's preamps down, low enough to limit/eliminate the "buzz" from the mix. Then, w/ the Rode Videomic connected to the CX211, i can set the level appropriately and get nice quite & clear audio from the external mic w/out the buzz or hiss. I use the Rode VXLR adaptor to connec the Videomic to the CX211. I recommend this adaptor as well to connect any TRS 1/8" connector to the XLR inputs of the CX211.
This combination seems to be working really well. The preamp is a solid unit with intuitive connections, switches and knobs. The mounting screws and internal receiving nut are sturdy.
To make the mounting more convenient I use a Sima Quick Release Adaptor on the top of the unit. This allows me to change out the battery & quickly get to the SD card slot on the video camera... you can't do that if you mount the CX211 directly to the bottom of this camcorder, you have to use the hex wrench to mount/unmount the camera every time. Also be aware you'll need to add a rubber washer to prevent any unwanted rotation of anything mounted on top of the unit - for that matter on the bottom as well.
The unit is a little wide for the HF-S100, but my rig is more for tripod use so it's not a big deal for me.
I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for a quite preamp, sturdy construction, and convenient/intuitive design.

I was looking for a low/no noise XLR adapter for my Handycam. I had tried another but had a constant hiss. CX211 delivers nice clean sound.

This product works great for my T2i. The sound quality is excellent when used with magic lantern running on the camera. There is no need to use a stand alone recorder when your using the T2i/ML/juicedLink. I have used separate recording devices in the past and syncing them up in post is for the BIRDS!
If anybody says it not awesome for the T2i they are not running magic lantern and don't know how to set it up properly.

I got this to use with my Canon Rebel T2i, hoping to get more gain from my shotgun microphone. Unfortunately there wasn't much difference with or with out this unit. It is poorly built with some sharp edges and openings. Not the quality I would expect from B&H. If Juicedlink improve the build quality, then it would be a good XLR adapter and nothing more.

Got to hand it to Juicedlink, they've made a great product. I'm using this with a Panasonic HDC-TM700K camcorder. The camcorder, on its own has unusable audio. But by setting the camcorder input to -30db and using the high gain settings of the Juicedlink, I can create a very clean signal. It's simple, camera preamps - BAD, Juicedlink's - GOOD. It's easy to use and setup. The metal case is tough and should last a while.
Without this box, I'd be using a separate audio recorder and dealing with the inability to instantly review takes and all the extra synch work in post production.
It isn't the most comfortable thing for hand-held shooting with the squared-off edges, but it is light-weight and certainly portable enough.
The level-knobs have a nice smooth feel with just the right amount of resistance. All controls are accessible even with my tripod plate attached. I am afraid I'll lose the hex wrench when I need it - I'd rather it require a screwdriver instead.
This product is all it claims to be. Don't get a passive audio interface, get this one.

I don't know if it me or product. 1st I don't like that you have to go online to get the User Manual. Then when you do get there it's had to find the product that I got. He show you how to use and hook up the DT454 on u-tube, which is not a help to me being I have the JL-CX211. When I did find the user Manual for what I had it was hard to read. I don't know anything about mixer. A friend recommend this product to me,and he said it is EZ to use. (It is NOT) Being that I still have not hooked it up I can't tell how good or bad it is. If this is your 1st mixer good luck!!

I use this for any video recording that requires clean balanced audio. The design is simple and easy to set-up and use. You will be amazed at the difference in quality compared to the on-board audio of your camera.

[...]. The Juiced link is a little off center (the mounting holes on the bottom are a little too far to the back making a connection to a steadicam or tripod "front heavy." I wish the knobs were a little bigger and I wish I didn't have to take the unit off just to change the battery on my Canon HV40. Other than those nit-picky things, it seems to be a great interface with my Azden shm 1x shotgun microphone.

I use this to connect my wireless mic system and shotgun mic (both XLR) to the mini mic input on my camcorder. It works perfectly. I like how you can assign channels (or both) for each mic, and that each has its own gain. Really simplifies my ENG camerawork. Wouldn't you know it? First time I went out with it I wanted to use three XLR mics, and immediately wished I'd purchased the unit with 4 XLR inputs. I've used other XLR adapters, and this is by FAR the best unit I've found at any price.

Bought this as a package with a Rode NTG-2 for extremely high quality results so far.
Very very happy, the pre-amp is low noise and this is powered unlike the similarly priced Beachtek. Absolutely happy with this unit.
