Comments about HP / Hewlett-Packard LaserJet CP1518ni Laser Printer:
Using this printer for a SOHO. Don't always have much to print. Also using it with Linux (Mint) computers and FULLY COMPATIBLE! As previous reviewers have stated, it is slow, slower than my other HP 2100 laserjet. But my printing is not time critical so it doesn't matter too much. CON: no backlight for the LCD screen on the printer/hard to read. Would recommend only if people don't have time critical printing.

For our office, it works just perfectly. It isn't loud and prints fast enough for the job. The quality is great for the cost. I would recommend this product and purchase it again if I needed to.

Comments about HP / Hewlett-Packard LaserJet CP1518ni Laser Printer:
Mostly I print contracts, quotes and other (mostly) text documents related to my photography business. Occasionally I include supplemental photos or graphics, but I have not even considered using this as a photo printer. I print consistently enough that my inkjet wasn't cutting it anymore. This printer has been great, the toner lasts much longer than ink cartridges and the quality is a vast improvement, I no longer need to print client documents off-site. It is a laserjet, so it is about twice the size of an inkjet. It also can take a few moments to get started, but once it does it is quick and very quiet. I can't say I have any complaints about it.

I love my new HP printer. The colors are crisp. You can't find a better printer at this price.

... for the patient.
I am setting this up for a team of 3 or 4 people who is burning through $50 of ink a month on a multi-function color inkjet.
In theory, the laserjet will be more economical on the consumables. I made sure to set the toner coverage to the lowest setting (-3) through the printer's web console, and then set up each PC client with 2 different driver configurations: default grayscale and an optional color instance of the driver.
The printer just went into service last week. I've not heard any grumbling yet about print speed, which is on the slow side. But for this ridiculously low price, it's acceptable. It is a bit hard to swallow that a full set of toner costs as much as the printer, but then it's the same situation for the inkjets.

Comments about HP / Hewlett-Packard LaserJet CP1518ni Laser Printer:
The print is crisp with bold colors... very professional looking.
The printer is quiet and also doesn't take up much space.
My only complaint is that I print a lot of envelopes and it takes forever. It stops between every envelope and says "cleaning" then it says the paper (envelope) is an unknown size. Strange since I set up my envelope using the envelope settings in Word and was printing standard #10 envelopes.

I have never had any problems with this printer. The color is great and a lot cheaper than using ink jet printers with overpriced ink cartridges.

Since 1995, we have operated a mobile office in our tour bus. The size, reliability, speed, and print quality of the CP1518ni has made it the final choice for this print station. This is the most recent laser printer to occupy the position and the only one to meet all expectations for an entire tour without fail. Next year will be it's 3rd Tour.

Used as a home, non business printer, on a wired & wireless network.
Does everything as advertised. Color good & ok for casual photos e.g. when screening what you might want to print out on a high quality color jet.
Drawbacks. Doesn't come with Windows 7 drivers (as far as I can tell) & havenot had the best of luck with HP updating drivers.
Manual when printed out does not have an index. Difficult to find out how to use features. Particulary bad in that manual doesn't clearly show how to print single envelopes in top tray. Spent a lot of time figuring this out.

Nice printer for business documents that may require color graphics or photos. Photo quality is very good (not excellent). The only drawback is that the envelope feeder is a bit sketchy at times and won't feed an envelope.
