The 105XT from Azden is a portable plug-in UHF wireless system that's designed to mount onto a video camera. The included 15XT plug-in transmitter can be attached to any handheld dynamic microphone (microphone not included). The 15XT wirelessly transmits the attached microphone's signal to the 105UPR receiver, which mounts to the shoe of a video camera and plugs into the mini-plug microphone input on the camera (with the supplied cable). Both units are lightweight, run on readily available AA batteries (not included), and can be changed to another frequency should you encounter interference.
The included mini-plug output cable screws and locks into place on the receiver, to help avoid accidental detachment. If you want to use the 105XT system on a video camera with an XLR microphone input, you can use the separately available MX-1 output cable. The 15XT transmitter also features a locking mechanism that fastens the transmitter to the attached microphone. You can attach any kind of XLR microphone to the 15XT that does not require power to operate. In addition to being able to turn the power on and off, the 15XT also has a switch to turn the audio on and off. This is useful when the person holding the transmitter needs to mute the mic for privacy.
Both the transmitter and the receiver have small dials on them that enable you to change the frequency the system is operating on. There are 92 frequencies available to the 105XT in the UHF spectrum. A small tool is included to turn the dials when making frequency changes. This tool can also be used to adjust the volume of the headphone output on the 105UPR receiver, and used to adjust the trim of the microphone level on the 15XT transmitter. Both units feature an LED light that turns red when powered on, and green when a signal is being transmitted and received.
