JMI Telescopes makes the MOTODEC declination drive for the Orion SkyView Deluxe telescopes. Vibration-free, direct-drive declination adjustment is practically a necessity for any higher-magnification visual or imaging use, and users of this motor describe it as 'smooth as silk'.
In the case with the SkyView Deluxe scopes, MOTODEC's electric declination motor is connected to the drive with a bracket and belt and is battery-operated via a separate (included) hand controller. The MOTODEC's controller has variable-speed coarse and fine correction (there is no friction clutch for manual adjustment on this model).
