This production slate is built very well. Easy to write on easy to clean off. My only complaint is that you probably want to check to make sure that all the screws are tightened when you get it. Mine were loose and flew off after I used it a couple of times. But once I tightened the screws everything was fine!

This does not look like the picture, the clapper mechanism is sloppy, and worst of all - the dry erase markers don't actually erase.
I cannot recommend this product.

Comments about Ikan PS01 9x11" White Production Slate:
With the sound quality on HDLSRs being what it is (ie: crummy for the most part), things have come full circle with the need for external synch sound and this Ikan slate is perfect to help register that hand-shake. I like that the back doubles as a white card, too. I personally missed the days of having to call "Marker!" before a take and here they are again for us HD punks. I'll still call to check the gate after a scene, but it's mostly to amuse my old-school friends & confuse young DPs...

My only complaint is that is hard to erase. (Yes, I did use the compatible markers.) Probably needs to be pre-treated with alcohol or something before writing.

really isnt much you can say about a slate other than it works. Does stain rather easily with the dry erase markers and alcohol would not cut it.

Use it for corporate video, indy films, etc. - A functional, well built slate. Solid construction, nice clean clap, no issue with dry erase markers etc. Be sure to tighten up the screws when you receive it and you're good to go!

Comments about Ikan PS01 9x11" White Production Slate:
"magnetic."I received the slate in the mail today after buying from [...] and snapped some photos of the box (fig. 1) as well as the packaging and instructions for white board markers. Super simple stuff, seemed legitimate and quality. I opened up the packaging and was shocked by the looks of it. As you can see in Figure 2, the clappers are lined up unevenly, the paint is POORLY stenciled, and from operation, the sticks are incredibly stiff. I had to loosen the screws a good deal to get the sticks to even open and close at an audible click. After opening and closing a couple times, snap. The wooden sticks had come clear off the dry erase board. What was holding the two together, you ask? 5 dabs of hot glue. I will most likely be building myself a new pair of sticks to slap on the white board part of it, but I am pretty disappointed in the quality of this guy. Getting my hands dirty, I'm sure I can tweak it and fix it, but it's sad I pay [$] for this and get something so poorly crafted. Even found a fingerprint in the paint. Maybe I can track him (or her) down and give them a talking. Figure 1: [@]Figure 2:[@]

I was a little surprised to see that the whiteboard doesn't erase well. Perhaps this is by design, but I found it annoying. The last thing I want to do is add yet one more thing (whiteboard eraser) to the list of things I have to shlep to the set.
It does make a good clap, though.

I am a student at a college in New Jersey and often times create short films with other students for personal as well as school projects. This has made synchronizing audio a hella of a lot easier!!!! I don't know why I waited to so long to get it. I would also recommend purchasing Low Odor markers as they easily wipe off the board. (I also use a microfiber cloth to prolong the life of the slateboard. This makes an awesome clapping sound that is easy to find in the audio timeline. This is perfect for my budget now until one day I am able to afford a digital production slate

The construction of this production slate is solid and works well. I have had slates before that came apart. This one does not. Easy to hold, picks up good on camera, easy to wipe off. Wish these came with an attachment for a marker on the back side of the slate.
Good size.
I recommend it.

Comments about Ikan PS01 9x11" White Production Slate:
The slate works great and was less expensive than other slates, but the quality relating to the details (like paint, glue spots, etc) was lower. If these little issues are not important to you, than this is the route to go. For me, it was a great purchase.

Comments about Ikan PS01 9x11" White Production Slate:
I've used this slate for a short, independent film. It was several days of intensive use (the nature of the film called for a LOT of short scenes, and due to the complexity of them a lot of takes were needed).
The slate managed it with no issues. Given, I always erased the markings every evening, but there are no stains in it. The magnet that holds the clapper together was a really nice detail for back slating.
After the shot, the slate still feels as sturdy as it did when I first got it.
For only about $15 more than the toy ones, this slate is a no-brainer.

Good quality slate, with good visibility on the front.
Only problems are:
1 - the hinge is very tight, which makes the clapping slightly more difficult.
2 - the nut on the hinge screw came off and disappeared. Need to find another one to replace the tape that's on there now.

I use this production slate when I am shooting two camera video productions. It saves me tons of time in post. The price is right and it is all I need.
I just purchased a second slate to give to an intern as a gift.

I use this product for my own small independent films, and for videos related to my high school's news broadcast.
The board itself is all that you need in a production slate. I personally use dry-erase markers, and it seems to erase cleanly. The materials used in the product feel durable, so this product works fine even if you bang it up a bit. The clapper sticks are big and easy to grip, and they even have two magnets that make sure they stay together when not in use.
I have yet to encounter any issues with this product.

A lot of dry erase slates are way over prices, and guess what, they do the same thing. No need to spend a ton of money on another slate.
