Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizer Filters - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.
If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.
If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.
Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.
Note! Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

I had a polarizing filter about 25 years ago, misplaced it and finally decided to get a new one, my lens takes 77m size and looking at the prices I was taken aback for a moment, some were several hundred dollars and then I came acrss the Tiffen one. I use it mainly to shoot outdoor scenes and apart from eliminating the normal glare from swimming pools or fountains it is amazing how rich the colors become on things you would never think had glare. It is a great product, have used it about 10 times since buying it.

I used this on a 24-105L Canon Lens.
I have a 58 Hoya that I love. It has a small white line to assist with 'aiming' the filter at a consistent angle during a pan for panoramas.
This filter does not. It simply has the Tiffen text on the rim. Also, it is not near as easy to thread on as other filters I own. It does work well once it is on, and is well worth the price. I am just used to the ease of mount and setup of my Hoya perhaps.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
The Tiffen CP filter works fairly well for bright light reflection reduction and for darkening the sky for more dramatic photos. But, like most filters of this type it is a royal pain to work with. Once screwed on to your lens or protective filter it becomes very difficult to remove. Unlike a single frame filter, a polarizer consists of two rings, the upper one turns freely to set polarization angle. There is insufficient surface on the lower ring to enable dismounting from your lens. You can't use the upper ring as it turns freely.
I wish filter manufacturers would add additional tabs to the lower, fixed ring, to make it easier to unscrew it from the lens.
Overall the Tiffen filter is economically priced and worthy of your consideration.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
This polarizer will take a couple stops from your exposure, but yields skies that are not blown out. Darkest blue of all the polarizers I have used...maybe too dark at full strength, but it's nice not to need to add a ND grad.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
With the polarizer screwed onto the end of your lens, turn the outer section to see the polarizing effect. As you turn it, the effect will increase and decrease, then repeat. Simply stop when it looks best to you
My pictures turned out great, The resulting saturation is beautiful.
Blue skies really becomes blue.
Reflections are dramatically reduced or eliminated, really cool.
Really recommend when shooting landscape. Like the Canon 10-22mm @ 10mm
Not recommended on a ultra wide angle lens.

A must have for outdoor sunny day photography. Also for those impossible water shots with that glaring reflection. I wasn't in the market for one of these filters, but it came with a lens that I purchased. And I am so happy it did as it opened up a whole new area of photography for me!

Bought this for a trip to Hawaii and worked nicely up until the point where my camera ate a huge wave. The polarizer still works but the camera doesn't. Brought a lot more contrast to the clouds. Sometimes a little difficult to remove

I don't think you can get anything better for the price. The build quality is on par with those filters that run for $100+ As far as performance, I am not impressed, but that doesn't mean it performed badly or disappointed me.
A good buy.

you need a decent circular polarizer in every camera kit. This is a good one for the money. This will get you that snappy blue sky and also good for shooting through glass.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
The Tiffen is 1/3 the cost of the Hoya, and works just as well. I have the 67mm Hoya, and the Hoya definitely handles nicer and has a more robust feel to it, but the Tiffen works great and have had no issues with it. It's a bit tricky to get the threads lined up at first but after it goes on a few times, it works like a champ. Optically, I can't tell each other apart. And it's made in the USA with a 10 year warranty. That's impossible to beat, I highly recommend it. My next filter purchase will be a Tiffen.

Comments about Tiffen 77mm Circular Polarizing Filter:
The polarizer itself works very well. Really removes glare and brings out the sky. Only complaint is that the threads have a bit of a problem aligning on both my 28-300mm nikkor and 11-16mm Tokina. Certainly not a big deal, but enough for me to take off 1 star.
