Comments about Sony HVR-M25AU HDV VTR:
I recently purchased the HVR-M25AU DIGITAL HD VTR, after searching high and low for the perfect deck for my needs, I couldn't be happier with my investment. The biggest need was to playback 24p HDV footage, so this deck is a perfect companion for the Sony Z7U.
Aside from that I have MiniDV, DVCAM and HDV tapes and this deck plays them and can record to all those formats. It's built in LCD is extremely helpful so it doesn't have to be hooked up to an external monitor (for quick review).
Also the cameras I shoot with record date and time info, this deck can display that info.
It is extremely versatile, with formats, playing interlaced footage or progressive, it has HDMI connection to watch on full HD TVs or monitors.
It is worth every penny.

Comments about Sony HVR-M25AU HDV VTR:
l have the HDV/DV Camera which after shooting l need to dub quickly for the media. It is very difficult to dub the tape directly without VTR because I have to capture first and then transcode to DVD or tape which takes long time.

Comments about Sony HVR-M25AU HDV VTR:
This deck is awesome. I got it because I shoot video in HDV and also DVCAM and the fact that I can use both formats with one deck is a HUGE plus. I have it connected to one of my FinalCutPro stations and once I am done editing a multi-format timeline, I can master to tape in the format of my choice. The LCD screen makes life easy because I don't have to bring a monitor to location (when on small shoots) to see if the video is being recorded or to set up the menu in the deck. It can also be installed sideways on a desk to save space. I recommend this deck!

Comments about Sony HVR-M25AU HDV VTR:
Used by a student TV station, so constant wear and tear by a variety of skill levels. The video monitor on the deck is a must so students can easily confirm if their video is being recorded properly. One student tried to load a DVCPro tape when a MiniDV tape was already in the deck, and it jammed but was easily removable by taking the top off the deck... and the deck still worked fine despite the major user error. So it seems like a tough deck. We have five of these and are very satisfied with them.
The only complaint is that it does not have SDI in or out. That would be useful for some of our equipment. We have to use an HDMI to SDI converter.
