The Kirk LP-53 Lens Plate is designed to take the place of the original tripod collar foot of the 500mm f4 IS lens, and to convert the collar to make it directly compatible with Arca-type quick release clamps, without the need for additional quick release plates. Critical mass is reduced, but the original Canon design is still maintained, which allows it to still be used as a carrying handle.
Each adapter comes complete with all the necessary hardware and tools to make the conversion.

Comments about Kirk LP-53 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:
This Arca-Type foot plate replaces the existing Canon foot of the 500mm lens. This foot plate can then be used directly with your Arca style ball head mount. By mounting this foot directly to your lens you have the strongest mount possible. The long "foot" also allows balance adjustment for use with Wimberley style gimbal systems.

If you want the best support for your Canon 500mm f4/L IS USM lens, then this is the answer. Lighter, smaller, and more secure than attaching a lens plate yet has all of the same features.

Comments about Kirk LP-53 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot:
I use the replacement foot for my Canon 500/4IS. More positive connection than using a standard lens plate. Has safety stops to prevent the lens from falling out of the mount.
