Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate (Medium) with 2 1/4"-20 & 2 3/8" Screws
The Gitzo GS5370MC Quick Release Plate is a 3.2" long plate that comes supplied with two 1/4"-20 and 3/8" screws each, plus a video pin. Having two screws available for each size provides a distinct advantage for heavy equipment or longer lenses and scopes.
This is a "C" type plate, and is compatible with all current (as of 7/08) heads, except for the Off-Center Heads. It is also compatible with the G2285MB and GS3760C quick release adapters. Its screws are made of high quality steel.
Replaces G2382B plate.

I was looking for a replacement plate for an older G1380 fluid head I had been given. After discovering that the original plate had been discontinued, I was directed to this plate by a Gitzo representative. I have to say it is an excellent replacement! The plate is solid and well manufactured, featuring a retractable video pin and two sizes of screws ensuring it will fit to pretty much any camera or adapter plate. The plate itself is a little thicker than the original, meaning the top of the plate rising above the top of the head, but it doesn't interfere with normal operation of the camera. I use this plate to mount my DSLR to the tripod and it fits perfectly. The retractability of the video pin is a great feature since my DSLR doesn't utilize it. Overall just a quality product.

I was at first frustrated with the small square QR plate that came with my new Gitzo head---not enough rubber surface area to keep my Canon DSLR with heavy lens from slipping when vertical. Then I discovered Gitzo makes plates for my head in three lengths. This one, 2 3/8" long (width must stay the same for all plates to slip into head) is the medium size and is fine for my DSLR and Pentax 67. The interchangeable tripod socket screws (1/4" and 3/8") the plate comes with seemed vulnerable to falling out of their slot until I realized you can lock the slot with the 1/4"-to-3/8" adapter sleeve that comes with the head. Now I'm happy and will probably order another for other cameras, though the price seems a little high.

I use it with my 70-200mm f2.8 and would get another one for my 200-400mm f4. It's a lot more secure and sturdy to use with my Gitzo tripod.
