Comments about Gitzo GS5370B Quick Release Plate (Square) with 1/4" & 3/8" Screws:
I bought this along with a new Gitzo tripod and the GH 2750QR Series Off Center Magnesium Ballhead. I like the tripod but am VERY UNHAPPY with the plate and ballhead. Everything works fine until you turn it to the portrait/vertical position. Then it is terrible. Even with a small lens mounted on my Nikon D700 the camera creeps down as it spins around the center support screw. I have mounted the plate in both directions and have the same problem. I have torqued down the screw as hard as possible and the camera still will creep down. I have tried the vertical position on the left and right side of the ballhead and still have the same problem. The creep is so bad you can not even bracket shots for composites because it will not even hold still for even a short period of time but droops down as soon as it is mounted. So long exposures are completely out of the question. In addition as another review noted the padding on top of the quick release plate moves around and bunches up. I emailed Gitzo about the problem and they have not even responded. So...stay away from this product if you at all plan on shooting any vertical/portrait shots.

Comments about Gitzo GS5370B Quick Release Plate (Square) with 1/4" & 3/8" Screws:
I have a plate attached to the body of the camera as well as one on each long lens. I purchased this plate for a Nikon 200mm F4. The foot on the lens has two screw sockets. This plate screws into one of the sockets and the pin fits nicely into the second socket. No matter what you do the plate will not twist when attached in this configuration. The fact it comes with both sizes of attachment screws is a bonus for those who have cameras with each.
