The Ebony A3 from TL Audio is a mono channel strip featuring discrete Class-A circuitry and a switchable tube path for added tonal variation. The unit consists of a microphone/line preamp along with an instrument input, a comprehensive compressor section and a three band EQ. An output gain control effectively acts like an output fader, and is very useful when recording direct to tape or a hard disc DAW/recorder.
The microphone/line input has a switch that allows a tube circuit to be inserted with a rotary control for dialing in the amount of tube processing required. The instrument input has a dedicated tube input stage with the ability to select high or low impedance. The inputs and outputs are balanced and ground free, as are the insert points, although unbalanced operation is supported.
