Was picking camera up by strap and camera slipped out of hand an landed LCD screen side onto Stone fireplace corner from about 2 feet. Shattered the LCD cover into 4 pieces, but saved the LCD display from ANY damage. This item is worth EVERY penny it costs.. I bought 2 just in case.

its a must, to protect your camera. the only drawback is that its' stretchable, and dust can go underneath it. but than its cheap to replace.

It is good to have a spare being able to exchange the original protector after using it a couple of years with all its wear. But still the camera's display is free of scratches. So this part does what it is assigned for. It would deserve 5 stars if there weren't the electrostatic effect which causes the screen to collect fine dust particles on its inside.

if you own a d700 you should always have this cover on the lcd. much cheaper than a cracked lcd.

This is a very reasonable item to add to your D700 system to protect your expensive investment. Can scratch easily however LCD still easily viewable.

I have to admit, I sent my D700 in for minor repairs -- and stripped my camera of any loose parts including the LCD Cover. Well, I misplaced it! It's well worth spending [$] to protect your LCD from scratches. Maybe some day, I'll remember where I put the original LCD cover and have a backup. Oh, if only! Seriously, don't leave home without one!

I am a professional sports photographer and I own 2 d-200 and 2 d-700 and would highly recommend using the protective cover to keep my cameras in top shape. I have replaced the covers at least once each and my screens and they all look as if they are still in great shape.

Some people like having protective gear on their expensive equipment, some people say it affects the actual appraisal of the picture in the image review monitor of the camera. I personally like changing the covers ever so often so that I have the best of both worlds. In one hand, a reliable perception of the image at the time I review it and in the other the protective effect of using a cover in a expesive camera.

This LCD cover does the job, but does scratch fairly easily. If it cost any more, it would not be worth the price. However, if it were more expensive and more scratch resistant, then it would be a better product by far.

I cracked by original...tried to take it off from the top instead of the bottom.
