The Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router from Linksys combines the functions of a Cable/DSL router, a wireless access point and a network storage server into one compact device. The router allows you to share your Internet connection between several computers that can connect via the draft 802.11n wireless protocol or via any of four wired RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports. The router is also fully backwards compatible with legacy 802.11a/b/g devices.
The router also features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the Internet, as well as wireless security to insure that your data remains private.
The router can achieve blazing fast speeds via the draft 802.11n wireless connection, and it is also fully backward compatible with devices that use the older 54Mbps 802.11a/g and 11Mbps 802.11b standards. These features make the wireless router a great way to add wireless access to your home network.

First let me say I provide technical support for systems, including communications. I am not a communications technical guru, but I do know what I am doing. The installatrion CD is good and would have taken care of everything. However, if your setup is even a little bit different than a plain vanilla set up, you will not be able to install this with out technical help from someone. Once past the installation setup and configuration for your needs is very easy. Kudos there! Please do pay attention to the suggestion of changing the router's administration password to something other than the default that comes with the router. The only thing that has me concerned is the wireless router has caused the cable modem to become inoperative, even though all of the indicator lights still show green. The only way out is to power down the cable modem wait a minute or two and then power it back up. Most of the time this works to clear up the problem with the cable modem. This has happened with different cable modems, so it was not the cabel modems. Also, the only time the cable modems became inoperative was after the wireless router was introduced. So far range does not seem to be an issue. Also, walls and other possible signal weakeners do not seem to be that much of an issue. I live in a ranch style house with the wireless modem at one end and the usual area of wireless use is at the other end.

I use the WRT610n router for internet connectivity for 6 devices, I have never noticed any downtime or drops due to overheating.
The WRT610n is easy to setup and looks very cool. I especially like the WiFi protected setup, this is a very effective method in keeping unwanted intruders out of your router.
I like everything about this router and I highly recommend it to anyone about to purchase a wireless 802.11n router.

Comments about Linksys Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router:
This is a great dual band router with a USB port. I was amazed at the range of this device I was able to have it installed and replaced by my 2 Wireless b/g router in about 30 minutes. With Comcast High Speed Internet, I needed to clone the hardware ethernet port address of my old device to my new device. Other than that, its great.

Pros: Everything.....Read about the firm ware issues but....IT must be the first versions cause mine came with the new firmware. But man this thing is freaking super charged. 0% down time. Easy to use. Even if you your not network savvy the help menu explains every thing. Options are off the chain does almost everything but clean your car.. I've been turned off to linksys for quite some time since linksys detuned the wrt54g. But They got this one right.
Cons: None
Other Thoughts: AS if this thing isn't cool enough. It's also [cough*customfirmware*Cough] compatible. nuff said. You want the top of the line click the buy button Now!!!

[...]Setup was a snap. Took about 10 minutes total. I use it for a small home network and to download movies from Netflix. Router works great and has never dropped connection since being setup.

Replaced my WRT54GL with this router because I needed more wireless speed and am upgrading my wired LAN to Gigabit mode. Setup the router manually and I was up and running in about 10 minutes. Really like the two simultaneous wireless connections, they have independent SSID and passwords. No crashes on the router as yet. There is an error in the four ethernet connection lights and internet light on the front panel. They light up blue when connected to 10/100 and green when connected to gigabit, opposite of what the manual states. Tested the USB storage connection but am not using at this time.

I use the WRT610N router for a home office and connection to home entertainment and printing devices (I.e. Ipod and phone, printer, WI-FI, and SPS3. I really appreciate how easy the WRT610N was to setup and connect to all my devices. I feel better with the added security and the Network Magic reporting service on all my computers and network activity, this is especially important on mointoring your children's network activities to help keep them safe. I have not found that the WRT610N ever slowed down in speed even with several devices connected. My only regret with the WRT610N is that I did not buy it sooner.

Overall this is a good router. The USB storage device and media server are nice additions. It is easy to configure. It does not give you the option however to configure the router as a AP or bridge.

Comments about Linksys Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router:
Used the setup wizard to set up the basic network and then used the browser interface to adjust the configuration (I upgraded from an existing Linksys router so already familiar with their configuration.) Took a couple of tries to get the shared storage device configuration to stick and work, but OK now. That's not going to be a primary use of the router so I didn't deduct any stars for that.

Setup disk did not work for me on Windows 7 64bit but it was not really needed. I also purchased Linksys WMP600N - 802.11n PCI card, for some reason it could not connect to the router over 5GHz band on the very first occasion but they it changed its mind and for a week I have no issues

Bought as an upgrade to our WRT-54GS.
Installed DD-WRT on it, added some custom scripts and routes. click- done.
Looks sleek but because it's placed in a high location where no one bothers looking, it could be painted pink and it wouldn't matter since as long as it works, it's doing it's job.
Expensive but worth it.
no overclocking on DD-WRT 24SP2.

Comments about Linksys Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router:
I replaced a Linksys WRT54G with this unit only to gain the "N" functionality for my Roku box to stream HD videos from Netflix. My old router worked just fine but was starting to show some age. Easy setup with the Dual bans. Although I have not tested this configuration, my understanding is if you have devices that don't support 802.11N you have to set one band up for either a/b/g or mixed which automatically defaults the router to support mixed on both bands. I doubt if this is true but again I would suggest some testing and upgrade accordingly.
Overall very satisfied with setup, operability and streaming of videos. Nice range too! My router is in the basement and I have a good size home at 4100 sq/ft. We can watch videos in the great room while our daughter is connected wirelessly in her bedroom at the opposite end of the home. We have 9' ceilings on all floors so that is a pretty good testament to the range at least.

Comments about Linksys Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router:
Overall it's a great router but has some flaws... wireless is as fast as I've experienced on corporate or consumer networks and the range is great. I'm slightly disappointed with the gigabit ethernet performance (using CAT5e... haven't tested with CAT6 yet).
The firmware leaves a lot to be desired. Most notably that the 5ghz wireless frequency hangs every couple of days unless/until I reboot the router (the WRT54g v2 I replaced with this NEVER needed to be rebooted in the 5+ years I've had it). At minimum, there should be an option to automatically reboot every day at a specified time to avoid this.
I think it's a great buy if you need the features. Having 2 frequencies is really handy for performance and the USB port for adding a drive to the network is certainly a nice plus (although I seemingly have to reformat the drive in order to have the router recognize it, and therefore am not using it yet).

For an advance N router, it needs better antennas. The range isn't any better than the old G routers.
