I bought this arm after another brand let us down during a shoot. After using it a few times now this arm has been a great addition to our Sony FS100 camera kit. We use it to hold our PIX 240 recorder/5"monitor which when loaded down with the solid state hard drive and 2 large batteries weighs just under 6 pounds. This arm is rated to 10 pounds so I have a little wiggle room. The length is also really helpful so the PIX can be viewed from multiple angles without bumping up against the camera which using shorter products in the past has limited viewing angles. It is an expensive bit of kit for sure but at the end of the day what matters most is being able to rely on your gear to get the job done and keep the client happy. Adjustments are easy to make and I expect this arm to hold up well.

You can't be without a "cinema arm" "Magic Arm" Noga Arm" Israeli Arm" or whatever you want to call it. I use the to hold the monitor on the RED and hold an LCD on my ENG Cameras. I use them to hold a batt light on the front of the camera. I use them to hold a second small LCD on my jib to see Program in a 2nd monitor. They have 100 uses. However, they are quick to disappear and after a while, they sometimes break. They dont break in half or anything but one end of arm will cease to be able to tighten down. At that point you have a loose end that is worthless and the whole thing must be thrown away and replaced. Its not often but it seems to happen after about 2 years of use. I wish they had a warrantee. It happens with all brands. In the meantime, I cannot go without this trick tool of the trade for even one day.

Comments about Noga DG1108CA Cinematic Arm with 1/4"-20 Screw:

more solid than the usual lightweight arm sold w/ on camera support packages....it's worth the ounce or two of weight in gold for it's rigitity and longevity. I work in exteme conditions and I've given 4 stars because I still can't seal the on camera connection irrevocably w/out a wrench....which is true for all these arms....but this is the one I'd take w/out question for dependability.

Great piece of gear but needs to also be avail with a much smaller round screw piece to allow more room for other plug in accessories on an on board monitor, like HDMI cables.

I use the cinematic arm to support a Marshall HD monitor. For such a small arm it has an incredible amount of strength. Once you lock it in it does not loosen up. I would highly recommend this product.

This is a solid, simple to use product. It easily holds up a 9" LCD monitor. Used it on 2 DSLR features without a problem. Haven't found a better product in this price range yet. Note: this looks similar to the cheapo RR "magic arms" but is a legit Israeli arm that you can hand tighten and don't need pliers or other tools for. You need a microMount in order to attach the arm to the rods.

I purchased this product to use to mount my IKAN 8 inch HD monitor on my HVX camera.

There is an outstanding range of articulation for this mount and wonderful rock solid firm support once the clamp is engaged. It's a snap to use.

Caution should be exercised; because this armature utilizes an "Israeli" type pressure system, when it is loosened the whole armature goes slack on all points of articulation which can take you by surprise. It is critical to keep one hand on your monitor and one tightening and lossening the clamp. Still, a small inconvenience for a great piece of gear.

I'm not sure why Dean is having a problem. I've used these for years without any problem ... other then they seem to disappear ... ENGRAVE them! Perhaps he was over tightening his? For heavier items use a heavier duty Noga arm ... it wouldn't be fair to use the thinner light weight Nogas for larger HD on-board monitors.

Comments about Noga DG1108CA Cinematic Arm with 1/4"-20 Screw:

Although initially put off by the cost of such a apparently simple small item, I find after receiving and using it that it's an excellent high quality device. I use it to attach a stereo mic in a blimp to the top of my camcorder for outside, handheld shooting. It's strong, sturdy, and well machined. It's ergonomic, light, and quite elegant in its design. The one latch tightening lever actually does loosen and retighten all the joints of the unit securely allowing it to be positioned in any configuration. Simple and elegant, 4 out of 5.

using it for my monitor (attach the arm to my tripod) and it is great, infinite adjustability and well made, Very solid for the monitor and lower price than some very expensive alternatives. By the way I am using the 1/4 to 1/4 arm (not shoe mount).
