The 16x9 Cine Lock Quick Release Mounting Device consists of two parts that each attach to separate pieces of equipment and then lock into one another, and at the slide of a pin they unlock and separate from each other. Thus they provide quick-release functionality between cameras and accessories, and can be used with most any 1/4" or 3/8" gear.
The two parts are a burgundy wedge and a gray plate. They each attach onto a piece of equipment regardless of whether the equipment has a stud or a screw-hole as its mounting option. Both parts have to them two different-sized screw-holes. Via one of the two, each part either screws onto a stud, or -- by means of one of three screws that come included with the Cine Lock -- gets fastened to a screw-hole of a piece of equipment. The screw-holes of the wedge and plate are of 1/4" and 3/8" sizes, and the included screws are of the same sizes.

Strong quick and extremely useful. Placed on the bottom of my samurai and quick release allows me to move around without knocking off my monitor. Used with a monitor and external recording device.

Comments about 16x9 Inc. Cine Lock Quick Release Mounting Device:
I have NO idea how everyone else is giving these 5 stars. The design is a failure on SOOOO many levels.
First, the wedge, (the gray half). The holes for the mounting screws are threaded... Who's boneheaded Idea was that??? That means that you're completely at the mercy of how the threads line up between your Camera/Monitor and the wedge. For any given pair of wholes this will only be one way, which in my case was diagonal. The wedge will not go on in any other orientation then the one in which the threads line up. Had the holes not been threaded, the wedge could be mounted any way you like, just like every other quick release ever made .
Second, the mounting hole in the release, (the maroon half) is part of a second piece of metal. The idea is that you remove the metel if you want to put the screw in the other way. However, this means that you can never really get a screw truly tightened into the release. You can tighten it into the metel completely, but it'll still be loose because the little bit of metel moves in the socket. Using a washer pressed against the outside I was able to get it sotra tight, but not tight enough to hold against an accidental bump to the connected equipment.
The only way I can see using this quick release is to use it, as I would consider it, backward: Mount the articulated arm into the holes in the Wedge. and sticking the screw out through the hole in the bottom of the release.

I didn't expect this device to link up this solidly. Very good precision machining. I use for attaching cine-arm to camera and for attaching monitor to cine-arm. Works great. I recommend it.

I have heard bad things about these locks, but upon trying them out, I can't find any fault with them. I use them to quick mount monitors, articulating arms, and Frezzi light studs. Just as secure as if I screwed it in, makes setup and break down very fast.

Comments about 16x9 Inc. Cine Lock Quick Release Mounting Device:
The Cine Lock is a quick release device that mounts to various pieces of gear. It comes with 1/4 20 and 3/8" screws. I use this with a USB follow focus from OKII systems and a Sachtler 3986 viewfinder attachment for mounting it on a rod in a similar place to a normal follow focus. I also use these things on an Anton Bauer battery plate, for quick set up.
The unit comes with everything you need to get a device connected and attached to a mounting hole.
