The Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera is an SLR-like camera with an impressive zoom lens that can range from 27.6mm equivalent wide-angle to 414mm Telephoto, and captures images with stunning quality at up to 10.0 megapixels of resolution. The camera also has HD capabilities with the ability to shoot both still and video clips in HD quality as well as an integrated HD output so you can view your images and videos on an HDTV display. Plus, its compact design means that the FinePix S2000HD is perfect for advanced amateur photographers who want an affordable, step-up digital camera that will still fit in the palm of their hand.

The camera is designed to help you get the best shot under difficult shooting conditions. The Dual Image Stabilization system is a marriage of mechanical sensor shift stabilization, to compensate for slight movement of the photographer's hand, with Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization Technology, which uses fast shutter speeds and ISO levels (up to ISO1600 at full resolution, or ISO6400 at 5MP) for total anti-blur protection. As a result, users will see significant improvement in image clarity and sharpness compared to other camera models, even in low light conditions or at extreme zoom. Fujifilm's award-winning Face Detection Technology which operates by identifying and prioritizing up to 10 faces in a frame and then adjusting the focus and exposure accordingly to ensure the sharpness and clarity of human subjects in the picture, regardless of background. After the shot is captured, the automatic red-eye removal feature instantly checks each detected face for red-eye and if it's found, corrects it in the camera automatically. Furthermore, the Continuous Shooting mode makes it easy to shoot moving subjects such as pets, kids and sports by providing high-speed shooting of up to 13.5 frames per second.

Other helpful features found on the FinePix S2000HD include the i-Flash Intelligent Flash System resulting in an image that displays pleasing, natural tones without a "washed-out" effect; Full Manual Photographic Control for total control of the camera settings, compatibility with Secure Digital (SD & SDHC type) memory cards; and it even uses common AA-Type batteries for the ultimate in convenience when traveling.

10 Megapixel Resolution
The CCD sensor of the FinePix S2000HD provides 10 megapixels of effective resolution to capture the world around you in vivid color and lavish detail, enabling you to print, enlarge and even crop your images in any fashion you choose
15x Wide-angle Optical Zoom Lens
Bring your subject closer and clearer with high quality Fujinon lens technology. The Finepix S2000HD features a Fujifilm Wide-angle 15x zoom lens with a focal range equivalent of 27.6-414mm (compared to 35mm) - making the camera perfect for family vacations, nature photography, Real estate or architectural photos and sporting events. The lens is also capable of macro photography with a Super Macro Mode for accurate focus as close as 0.4" (1cm) to the subject
Dual Image Stabilization
The FinePix S2000HD assures that your images will be as sharp as possible with Dual Image Stabilization. The camera combines a sensor shift mechanical image stabilization system which compensates for movements in the photographers hand, with Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization Technology that takes advantage of the high sensitivity of the camera for faster shutter speeds and the ability to freeze the motion of the subject, so that increased clarity and sharpness is achieved, even in low light conditions. The combination of the two is the ultimate in stabilization technology
High Sensitivity
The FinePix S2000HD provides incredible light sensitivity while maintaining low image noise and accurate color with up to ISO 1600 available at full resolution and up to ISO 6400 available at lower resolutions. Now you can take natural light pictures under conditions where even human vision may have difficulty discerning the details
Face Detection with Auto Red-eye Removal
The S2000HD features Face Detection to significantly improve your picture taking by identifying up to 10 human subjects' faces in the frame in real time, and determining the optimal focus and exposure settings for the absolute best results possible in any shooting conditions. Then the Auto Red-eye Removal feature automatically removes red-eye effects often spoiled by flash reflections
Intelligent Flash
The Intelligent Flash system that is built into the S200HD captures both the subject and the background with natural brightness, setting the ideal balance of flash output and sensitivity. In addition, the Natural Light & with Flash feature captures the same scene twice, once at high sensitivity with natural light and once with Intelligent Flash, ensuring great photos, even in marginal shooting situations
Instant Zoom with Zoom Bracketing Mode
The Instant Zoom function makes it simple to follow a moving subject in wide view, then with a press of a button jump to an additional 1.4x or 2x digital zoom for a closer image. The Zoom Bracketing feature allows users to capture 3 images, from wide to up close shots, with just one press of shutter, and each of your images can be saved into your memory card. When combined with Face Detection, zoom bracketing also ensures your subjects are automatically centered and red-eye corrected
HDTV Capability
The FinePix S2000HD can record HD quality video as well as VGA & QVGA video with sound while also allowing users to activate the camera's 15x optical zoom during video recording. Plus you'll capture more video while using less memory with MPEG-4 compression. Users can also capture high resolution images in 16:9 format, then enjoy HD image viewing in your living room since the camera is equipped with an HD video out so high resolution images can be displayed on an HDTV at full screen
Pre-programmed Scene Modes
A selection of 13 Scene modes and 11 shooting modes (including Portrait, Sport, Landscape and Sunset to name a few), are available that offer a one-touch setting for everything from shutter speed and exposure to white balance. An intuitive interface lets you confirm settings on the LCD and provides brief text explanations that take the guesswork out of digital photography
Get Creative with Manual Exposure
The FinePix S2000HD provides manual exposure controls for the more advanced photographer to take over the cameras exposure settings and provide a greater level of creative control. The camera also provides Shutter Priority exposure control for easier use while still maintaining control of key aspects of your image
Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)
In addition to the LCD, the FinePix S2000HD gives you the option of framing your shots through a bright, clear electronic viewfinder (EVF). With a refresh rate of 60 frames per second, images in the viewfinder appear smooth and natural
2.7" High Resolution LCD Display
The large, 2.7" high-resolution LCD display permits a more sophisticated icon-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) with unique features like on-screen user assist functions, and the Micro Thumbnail mode that displays 100 thumbnails at a time. Plus an anti-glare coating on the surface also makes it easier to see the LCD screen in bright light or outdoor shooting and viewing situations
Innovative Playback Modes
The camera provides unique image selection features for playback including an option to search for specific image types according to the shooting mode used (Still image, Continuous, Movie files), and also provides a High Speed Playback where moving subject captured in continuous shooting mode will be played in a continuous thumbnail view at a rate of 10 fps as you search for your favorite shot in full screen. The camera's micro thumbnail view Allows you to find favorite image at a glance displayed in 10 x 10 array, while the Slide Show feature can be set to provide Close-ups of detected faces in a slide show style. Furthermore, the Auction Mode allows users to combine multiple photos into a single image ready for easy uploading to auction sites
Built-in and Expandable Memory
The FinePix S2000HD includes 55MB of built-in memory so you'll be able to begin shooting, right out of the box. Plus the camera memory can be expanded to over 2GB with popular Secure Digital (SD) Cards and even higher capacities are possible with Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards
Uses Common AA-size Batteries
the FinePix S2000HD uses common AA-size batteries for the ultimate in convenience and accessibility. Using AA batteries means in a pinch, more batteries are just moments away at any Drug Store, Convenience Store, or dozens of other retailers. Additionally, rechargeable AA batteries may also be used to extend the life and performance of the camera without purchasing disposable batteries over and over. The camera is also very efficient at using power, allowing you to capture up to 300 shots from alkaline batteries, 400 shots with NiMH rechargeable batteries and up to 650 shots using Lithium batteries

The manual controls aren't very usable. I've gotten better pictures forcing a cheap fully-automatic compact into doing what I want than I have with this. Forget the manual focus, it's unusable. Aperture gives you only two options, and even on the open setting won't give you a soft focus background in most cases. Pictures are generally noisy at any ISO, horribly so at any setting above 100. So really it's not useful for taking photos outside of bright daylight.
Pictures are never very crisp. In addition there is extreme lens fringing (on high contrast lines you'll get a cyan fringe on one side and a pink fringe on the other side). BUT the absolute worst thing about this camera is the white balance. It is almost never natural, especially indoors. Pictures end up having strange magenta tones to them. And don't expect to be able to adjust it in software, you won't be able to. Pictures taken close up (of a face for instance) will be strangely distorted in a way that photoshop's lens correction doesn't properly compensate for.

The highlights of this camera are that it does have a nice big zoom. And the video mode produces nice HD results and works even in low light situations where you wouldn't be able to get a good still picture from the same camera.

Ultimately, unless zoom is very important to you, today there are many more cameras with HD video that also take much more usable pictures and take up much less space.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

FinePix S2000HD is great in low light, and it has good autofocus features. The manual focus is very slow however, to the point that I first thought it wasn't working at all. This one is not one of the cheesy shirt-pocket cameras, but it is one step short of a professional camera. The zoom is a little TOO fast, and often overshoots the zoom setting and bounces back to where you want it. The viewfinder often has a blue haze that doesn't show up in the actual picture. Runs on 4 AA batteries, so you don't have to wait for a recharge. Good autofocus in low-light for extreme close-ups too. There's a pricey accessory for external power. I wish there was a power jack instead.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

I use the camera for indoor/outdoor shooting. I'd rate myself a "prosumer" more than an amateur, that is, i can take a very decent photo, I use my camera for art photography and models' portfolios etc.
Under studio conditions (lighting umbrellas and tripod mounted camera, model posing versus moving shots) the camera takes a crisp and clean picture. But under "normal" lighting, handheld ... I'm having trouble getting rid of detectable motion blur, softer focus than I'd expect. HOWEVER: this Fuji has MANY shooting modes, and I've only only explored a FEW (had camera a week or so). I shoot shadows/art shots. Under FULL AUTOMATIC, the camera takes VERY GOOD images (using shadow-erasing Flash etc) Don't get me wrong: this is a GOOD CAMERA! A GREAT camera for the price, imo. NOT a low-light camera. But read the reviews elsewhere to make sure it's right for YOUR USES, and expect a steep learning curve, imo.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

I upgraded from my old FinePix S304 (3.3 mpx) which has been a great camera. I used it, and now the 2000HD, for small scale food photography shot with available light for commercial freelance packaging design work.

This is a fantastic camera - it gives me excellent quality photos which I use for press quality print. The color and tone is great, and I find enough variables in the options to manually create just the shot I want. It's also more tactile and has a well-planned system of controls very niftily useable with one hand.

I would have liked the aperture priority feature of the old S304 though, with an aperture of at least 2.8 (this helped in lowish light) - S2000HD has shutter priority with not quite as fast a lens.

Everything else about it is great for me. Highly recommended indeed.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

I own two DSLRs but I take this with me when I shoot with my Hasselblad or Leica as a backup.
With S2000HD, the lens does not extend too much at 414mm and keeping overall size still compact, which I like very much. And the image quality as well as optic is super. I did research in the web for side by side comparison test with similar models and S2000HD is as good as other much more expensive models.

        However,there are major problems.
        1) LCD monitor and view finder is awful that there is purple flare spreading from high light area. I down loaded a firmware which is suppose to fix it but to no avail. And color balance is off in the LCD so you don't get what you see.
2)Fuji's PS cams tend to over expose. I always have to compensate exposure -1 or -1.5 or so. The same with the 30f.

So if you can manage and live with these problems, this one still is a great value.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

I use this for general photography. I've found the features to be useful and easy to use.I was attracted to it's screen size and looks as well as getting everything at a cost I could afford. I would recommend this camera for anyone looking to update their old one.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:

Pros: Ruggedly well built. Comfortable grip. Comes with a well thought out manual and also a CD manual which gives you some more instructions above what the manual provides. I use this for wildlife and scenic photos (use the "P" mode). Easy menue and a snap to learn. WA and Tele shots are right on the money. Excellent color and sharpness. Fuji customer support is excellent (USA based).

Great quality for the price, if you are looking for an SLR then keep looking, otherwise this is an excellent choice for a camera with added features & feel of a higher end camera.

Overall, this is working out well for the family to use. The zoom aspect is quite handy and the features are easy to figure out. The zoom is a bit too "touchy" it can be hard to just crop out or zoom a little. the only other negative is the shutter-lag is slower than ideal. For my wife and son this is a quality camera that has some good higher end features that make it one they can use in many situations and they are very happy with the camera and the image quality.

I bought the camera for a trip to RSA next May. The features and function are more than I expected. The image stabilization system works very well.
