The Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera is an SLR-like camera with an impressive zoom lens that can range from 27.6mm equivalent wide-angle to 414mm Telephoto, and captures images with stunning quality at up to 10.0 megapixels of resolution. The camera also has HD capabilities with the ability to shoot both still and video clips in HD quality as well as an integrated HD output so you can view your images and videos on an HDTV display. Plus, its compact design means that the FinePix S2000HD is perfect for advanced amateur photographers who want an affordable, step-up digital camera that will still fit in the palm of their hand.
The camera is designed to help you get the best shot under difficult shooting conditions. The Dual Image Stabilization system is a marriage of mechanical sensor shift stabilization, to compensate for slight movement of the photographer's hand, with Fujifilm's Picture Stabilization Technology, which uses fast shutter speeds and ISO levels (up to ISO1600 at full resolution, or ISO6400 at 5MP) for total anti-blur protection. As a result, users will see significant improvement in image clarity and sharpness compared to other camera models, even in low light conditions or at extreme zoom. Fujifilm's award-winning Face Detection Technology which operates by identifying and prioritizing up to 10 faces in a frame and then adjusting the focus and exposure accordingly to ensure the sharpness and clarity of human subjects in the picture, regardless of background. After the shot is captured, the automatic red-eye removal feature instantly checks each detected face for red-eye and if it's found, corrects it in the camera automatically. Furthermore, the Continuous Shooting mode makes it easy to shoot moving subjects such as pets, kids and sports by providing high-speed shooting of up to 13.5 frames per second.
Other helpful features found on the FinePix S2000HD include the i-Flash Intelligent Flash System resulting in an image that displays pleasing, natural tones without a "washed-out" effect; Full Manual Photographic Control for total control of the camera settings, compatibility with Secure Digital (SD & SDHC type) memory cards; and it even uses common AA-Type batteries for the ultimate in convenience when traveling.

The manual controls aren't very usable. I've gotten better pictures forcing a cheap fully-automatic compact into doing what I want than I have with this. Forget the manual focus, it's unusable. Aperture gives you only two options, and even on the open setting won't give you a soft focus background in most cases. Pictures are generally noisy at any ISO, horribly so at any setting above 100. So really it's not useful for taking photos outside of bright daylight.
Pictures are never very crisp. In addition there is extreme lens fringing (on high contrast lines you'll get a cyan fringe on one side and a pink fringe on the other side). BUT the absolute worst thing about this camera is the white balance. It is almost never natural, especially indoors. Pictures end up having strange magenta tones to them. And don't expect to be able to adjust it in software, you won't be able to. Pictures taken close up (of a face for instance) will be strangely distorted in a way that photoshop's lens correction doesn't properly compensate for.
The highlights of this camera are that it does have a nice big zoom. And the video mode produces nice HD results and works even in low light situations where you wouldn't be able to get a good still picture from the same camera.
Ultimately, unless zoom is very important to you, today there are many more cameras with HD video that also take much more usable pictures and take up much less space.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:
FinePix S2000HD is great in low light, and it has good autofocus features. The manual focus is very slow however, to the point that I first thought it wasn't working at all. This one is not one of the cheesy shirt-pocket cameras, but it is one step short of a professional camera. The zoom is a little TOO fast, and often overshoots the zoom setting and bounces back to where you want it. The viewfinder often has a blue haze that doesn't show up in the actual picture. Runs on 4 AA batteries, so you don't have to wait for a recharge. Good autofocus in low-light for extreme close-ups too. There's a pricey accessory for external power. I wish there was a power jack instead.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:
I use the camera for indoor/outdoor shooting. I'd rate myself a "prosumer" more than an amateur, that is, i can take a very decent photo, I use my camera for art photography and models' portfolios etc.
Under studio conditions (lighting umbrellas and tripod mounted camera, model posing versus moving shots) the camera takes a crisp and clean picture. But under "normal" lighting, handheld ... I'm having trouble getting rid of detectable motion blur, softer focus than I'd expect. HOWEVER: this Fuji has MANY shooting modes, and I've only only explored a FEW (had camera a week or so). I shoot shadows/art shots. Under FULL AUTOMATIC, the camera takes VERY GOOD images (using shadow-erasing Flash etc) Don't get me wrong: this is a GOOD CAMERA! A GREAT camera for the price, imo. NOT a low-light camera. But read the reviews elsewhere to make sure it's right for YOUR USES, and expect a steep learning curve, imo.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:
I upgraded from my old FinePix S304 (3.3 mpx) which has been a great camera. I used it, and now the 2000HD, for small scale food photography shot with available light for commercial freelance packaging design work.
This is a fantastic camera - it gives me excellent quality photos which I use for press quality print. The color and tone is great, and I find enough variables in the options to manually create just the shot I want. It's also more tactile and has a well-planned system of controls very niftily useable with one hand.
I would have liked the aperture priority feature of the old S304 though, with an aperture of at least 2.8 (this helped in lowish light) - S2000HD has shutter priority with not quite as fast a lens.
Everything else about it is great for me. Highly recommended indeed.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:
I own two DSLRs but I take this with me when I shoot with my Hasselblad or Leica as a backup.
With S2000HD, the lens does not extend too much at 414mm and keeping overall size still compact, which I like very much. And the image quality as well as optic is super. I did research in the web for side by side comparison test with similar models and S2000HD is as good as other much more expensive models.
However,there are major problems.
1) LCD monitor and view finder is awful that there is purple flare spreading from high light area. I down loaded a firmware which is suppose to fix it but to no avail. And color balance is off in the LCD so you don't get what you see.
2)Fuji's PS cams tend to over expose. I always have to compensate exposure -1 or -1.5 or so. The same with the 30f.
So if you can manage and live with these problems, this one still is a great value.

This was purchased to replace our point and click digital with 3x zoom without having to spend all the money of a more complicated system with lenses. The image stabalization works great. This has exceeded our expectations.

Pros: Ruggedly well built. Comfortable grip. Comes with a well thought out manual and also a CD manual which gives you some more instructions above what the manual provides. I use this for wildlife and scenic photos (use the "P" mode). Easy menue and a snap to learn. WA and Tele shots are right on the money. Excellent color and sharpness. Fuji customer support is excellent (USA based).

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD Digital Camera:
Overall, this is working out well for the family to use. The zoom aspect is quite handy and the features are easy to figure out. The zoom is a bit too "touchy" it can be hard to just crop out or zoom a little. the only other negative is the shutter-lag is slower than ideal. For my wife and son this is a quality camera that has some good higher end features that make it one they can use in many situations and they are very happy with the camera and the image quality.
