The mounting system for this web-cam is flawed, in my view: there needs to be a way of mounting the camera on the screen at the appropriate eye-line so that, when the person you are talking to looks at the image produced by the camera, they see you look AT them, and not down, away from their eyeline, as the present setup produces.
Of course, all web-cams that mount on the top of screens suffer this problem, but this is a serious flaw that constrains natural eye-to-eye communication, the very thing you buy a web-cam for. As this is a premium product, I expect that some thought has gone into its usability.
This flaw could be remedied by allowing the camera itself to hang down a few inches from the place that it mounts on the top of the screen—a simple remake of the bracket.
The USB cable is way too long, and too stiff (it does not bend and flow easily, so can disturb the position on the top of the screen where it sits—the bracket does not allow the camera to be clamped in place). This, too, is a simple design choice that can be remedied easily.
And there is no simple way to store the cable; I have unwound just enough cable to suit my present needs (camera mounted on screen) but this is an ugly, relatively heavy bundle. Much better approach needed here.
Once mounted (and I had to go to the YouTube to learn how to do this; no instructions in the box), it connects quickly, and the image quality is very good, a significant improvement on the MacBook Pro internal camera.

I use the QuickCam for FaceTime, Skype and other chat software. I also use it to make sure movie clips. I found it very easy to install and use. Haven't had any issues with it at all. I like the stand that is part of the cam that makes it easy to place and position the cam where ever I need it. I don't know that I would change anything about it. Just works great, right out of the box!

I am using this webcam to talk over skype both with friends and family, and for musical collaborations. Everybody tells me that the picture is clear and the sound is fantastic. No drivers or software was needed to use this, I plugged it in and it worked. Some webcams follow your face and refocus. This one does not, but I prefer it this way, so I can aim it at someone playing piano or at anything else I want to.I highly recommend this webcam to any Mac user.

I needed a good web cam for my studio control room. I already owned a Logitech webcam for my PC, and i was happy with it, so when I saw this model for the Mac, I jumped on it. Installing was seamless. There was no software to load since the drivers already part of Mac OS.
The only glitch I had was when I tried to plug the cam into the USB keyboard, there was not enough voltage. But once I plugged in a powered USB hub in between the camera and the Mac, it came right up.
I love the video resolution, and I am very happy with my purchase.

i had to return the two webcams i purchased from other dealers which did not work as advertised. both supposed to be able to use with a mac, but no go. mind you, they were $20 each and this was [$], so i guess sometimes you get what you pay for.i guess the base is designed so it can rest on your laptop, or sit on a table, but im envious of people with later versions of the laptop that just have a tiny pinhole on the top of their screen, and not this somewhat bulky thing with wires to carry around.

It's meant to work with a Mac but webapps like Ustream couldn't see the device.
I had to open PhotoBooth and select the internal camera, keep PhotoBooth open, then open Ustream.
Plug-and-play it was not.

99% of reviews for this webcam are accurate! I'm a researchaholic when buying something! I read dozens. Most of the negatives are usually from people who are technology challenged or who have issues with their computers, and just plainly have personal issues. Only two things I don't like about it are; you cant swivel the camera from side to side when mounted and the high frequency range is on the muddy side. However, you can hear the audio perfectly fine. If you could control the audio mix that would be great! I recorded and tested the mic capability from across the room; the camera's mic has quite an amazing reach. I am a professional level photographer, so I know about lenses. Carl Zeiss optics are known in the photo industry as "TOP" Quality! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because I want to be able to hear the high frequencies better. People say the Pro 9000 for PC is exactly the same; it could be but, I prefer that my equipment works the way it is suppose to for what is recommended. I didn't want to take the chance then be mad at myself for being cheap. Plus the Mac version is nicer looking and has a kool little "camera on" ring light! B&H has the best price that I found and was only about $20 more for the Mac version[...], no problem! Don't contemplate; just buy it! You won't regret it.

With my QuickCam Vision Pro USB Webcam for Mac by Logitech I have high definition, Wide Screen & full screen video and very good audio.
The auto focus is fast. I am very very pleased. I had sent my two brothers the PC version of this webcam. The resolution you send and see will depend on your computers capabilities, your internet connection method and the speed of your connection. I am using a Mac Pro and have the lowest speed cable internet with a wireless connection.

The only webcam that I could find specifically for my Mac. The setup was fast and simple and required no additional software setup because it works with iChat and other Mac software. Just plug it in and go. Works great with iMovie to add voiceovers to pictures incorporated into movies. Image processing somewhat slow when subject moves too fast in front of the camera.

I use this product with Skype primarily. iChat works with the camera however does not have as good of overall quality as Skype. If you want to use an external microphone this is easy enough to set in preferences. I've tried to use the camera with limited success on Ububtu on a variety of video applications. Some work, some do not. The overall image quality appears diminished when using it in this way. On the OSX side neither Image Capture nor iMovie function with the camera on 10.4.11. Perhaps they do on a more recent OS. Unknown. There is no software to install, everything is internal in the camera.

I have used the PC version of this webcam in the past on Skype and such. I needed a second webcam to stream my radio program on my iMac. Since I had great results on the PC I figured the Mac version should be just as good. To my amazement it was better! Just plug it in and it is ready to go. The QuickCam Vision Pro for Mac rendered a better picture than the built-in iSight on my Mac. I highly recommend this webcam to anyone looking to add or replace a webcam on their mac product. It just works!

This is a great camera. we got it to do video chat with Grandma and grandpa. after reading different reviews this was the one. The part that sold it was when Grandma and Grandpa kept talking about thing that are on the other side of the room that they could see clearly. And I'm looking at fuzzy picture of them sitting only a few feet from there camera. This works great for all those "cool, cool tricks" my 2 year old wants to show off. For Grandma and Grandpa to see.
