Hoodman HoodLoupe Professional LCD Screen Loupe for 3" Displays
The Hoodman HoodLoupe Professional LCD Screen Loupe is used to make a close inspection of the review image displayed on your digital SLR LCD display. The LCD Screen Loupe isolates the cameras LCD display from ambient light so you will not be distracted by glare or shadows. This makes it easier to view image details quickly to confirm focus to ensure that you have the best image possible. It will provide full coverage of an LCD display screen up to 3.0" diagonally with a standard (4:3) aspect ratio.
By employing Hoodman's optional Cinema Strap, the HoodLoupe can be used as a professional viewfinder for video-capable DSLR cameras.

Recent eye surgery in both eyes required the use of reading glasses every time I wanted to view the display on the back of my Olympus E-3. This was very clumsy and time consuming. I purchased the Hoodman HoodLoupe after reading about its adjustability and use in bright conditions.
I am very pleased with my HoodLoupe. The lanyard makes it very easy to raise the loupe to my display and make quick checks on focus accuracy. It is superb at blockling light when shooting bright conditions and it allows me to quickly view and delete unwanted images in the field. This makes more room for quality images on my flash card and reduces time spent editing and preparing photos for upload to my online galleries.

I shoot outdoors 100% of the time, and am usually sitting in direct sunlight. Checking focus and exposure with any sort of certainty was a real problem. I putchased the HoodLoupe Pro to allow for better viewing of my camera's LCD screens outdoors.
The HoodLoupe solves this dilemna quite well. I am a bit disappointed with the 'German glass" used in the product. I don't know why, but you have to position your eye perfectly in order to get a non-distorted view of the image. If you are offf axis, it is kind of like sighting through the bottom of a German bier stein.
Once your eye, the HoodLoupe anf the LCD screen are perfectly aligned, the resolution is excellent and allows for a thorough examination of the image on display. I just wish the "German Glass" didn't require such precise alingment.

This is the second Hoodman Loupe I have owned. I use this loupe on my Nikon D300 since the 2" previous loupe was too small. Now I can see the whole image from my screen without any light leaking in. I am a landscape and fine art shooter ,and frequently am checking the image on the back of my camera ,so using the loupe makes it very covenant to see what I need to do to a particular image before I move on to shoot something else. I love the rubber feel of this new loop and the removable strap. The only thing I don't like is that this loupe is bulkier than the previous loupe.

I bought this to allow me to review photos in the field since they were virtually impossible to see clearly on my Canon 7D with any bright ambient light. I use it primarily for landscapes to adjust camera settings and perspectives. It works great, as advertised. Not practical for action shots of wildlife but helpful to examine how those shots came out before you get home to the computer.

It works best for video capture making it easier to focus especially in bright light situations. I also have used it to focus manually for landscapes and nature shots. With my telephotos the the margin for error on focus is slim and this really does help. I haven't tried it with macro but would work the same. I don't particularly like working through live view but I am getting used to it. To hold the loop in place, I use 2 elastic hair bands, one over the top of the flash area and one around the bottom of my tripod plate, both secured to the rubber ring of the hood. It is a rip off that they sell the holder separately.

I use my HoodLoupe when shooting outdoors and it works wonderfully. I know it's one more thing to hang around my neck, but I'm able to review my images for clarity and proper exposure in bright sunlight without any glare. Every time I have my HoodLoupe with me, I find other shooters asking to borrow it. I bought one for three of my family members this Christmas because they love using it when shooting.

I found that using the HoodLoupe when setting up landscape & macro shots produced sharper images. I have so many things around my neck (binoculars & camera) that I found the belt loop & case a better way to use the product.
I carry it around in case someone wants to show me a "great photo" they captured on their cell phone. Now I can see the subject of their photos when the HoodLoupe covers their screen.

Having used an SLR camera for several years I have always had trouble, especially in bright sunlight, seeing if I got a crisply focused shot. It was always necessary to wait until I downloaded the camera card to my computer to see if I got the desired results. With the HoodlLoupe I get this information "in the field" so I can do re-takes as needed. Because the HoodLoupe has an adjustable focus, not only am I able to use it, but my husband will also be able to view the display on his camera or camera phone while outdoors.

In bright daylight I was having a terrible time viewing my 3" LCD screen. The Hoodloupe has been a great help in this situation. To check my still shots, it's very easy to use; I keep it hanging from the lanyard around my neck and place it over the LCD screen when I want to check a shot I've taken, like a movie director. For videos I use the cinema strap, which is a little tricky to fix in place, but works fine. I've ordered the Hoodcrane universal, which may be more practical.

this thing does everything it is supposed to. I shoot professionally outdoors in Phoenix, where the sun is so bright there is no way to see the lcd screen. It allows me to see if everything is in focus and correctly exposed. I also have horrible vision and don't shoot with my reading glasses so this allows me to fix it to my visual impairment... though, I wish it were not so expensive for how simple it is.

Great device for viewing camera LCD screens to shut out ambient. Much better than "paste on" filters which I also used. After seeing a friend using one, I immediately ordered one of my own. Camera should be on a tripod for use for viewing.

Since I shoot in dark theaters, the light from the screen is a distraction to the audience. I attach the loupe, via the straps (not included), to my camera with no viewfinder and I'm able to use the loupe like a viewfinder with no escaping light.

I use this to suppliment my reduction in my visual acuity due to the aging process. The adjustable focus is very helpfull. This is great to look at the LCD to see if what is infocus in the shot. I have looked at knock-offs while traveling abroad and they do not match the feel and performance of the real thing
