- Internal 320GB Hard Disk Drive
- The unit's internal hard drive offers up to 71 hours of XP-Mode (high-resolution) recording time, and up to an amazing 426/527 hours of EP mode (low resolution) recording time.
- VIERA Link/HDAVI Control
- This is a convenient feature that offers linked operation (through the HDMI connection) of this unit and Panasonic TV (VIERA) with HDAVI Control. When connected, you can turn on your unit and television, and start playing a disc in the play position with a single press of a button.
- Recordable DVD Media
- Record your favorite shows onto DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVR-R DL, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, and DVD-RAM DVD discs.
- Multi-Format Player
- Don't worry about limited playback capabilities, it can play DVD, DVD-RW (VR Mode), DVD-RW (Video Mode), DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, VCD and CD-DA discs. Also, you can play your favorite songs from CDs or MP3 files, and JPEG/TIFF images.

This has been an excellent deck and good bang for the buck. The record quality and ease of use are very good. The display and controls are limited but I suspect Panasonic has been doing that to keep the prices down. I use this in an educational environment daily. I have a similar model at home that has worked well for years. My only real complaint is that they took the setup btton off the remote from previous models.

A great recorder for off the air and playback of DVDs, but if you're like most of us, you've got satellite, guess what? Panasonic only provided low quality signal input capability for recording.
Output is fantastic, HDMI and component video. Input is standard composite video. There is a SCART connector, but apparently, that can only take composite video, and there is a front panel DV for recording from camcorders, again, not too helpful.
Back to the drawing boards.
