Comments about Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Recorder - Analog Video Capture Device:
I cannot believe how great this device is AND how easy to use! And I am no computer genius by any means. It is a heck of a buy.
I had read online articles about this capture device prior to ordering it, so I knew that it did not come with cables to hook my video player to the Dazzle device. I ordered the one I neede and it came packed in the box along with the Dazzle device.
I followed the very simple instructions to load the software FIRST - which involved putting a CD into the CD slot of my laptop. It has an installation wizard and you just follow that.
My purpose in purchasing this is to convert Hi8 and VHS tapes to computer files and CDs. I started with the Hi8s: Set up my older model Sony Handicam, inserted tape I want to convert. Set Handicam to "Player" setting, inserted tape and made sure tape was fully rewound.
Since my Handicam has an "S video" output, I connected my newly purchased S-video cable from the Handicam to the Dazzle device. Then connected an audio cable from "Audio Out" on the Handicam to "Audio In" on the Dazzle. The inserted USB connection from Dazzle into my laptop. And that was IT, folks!
To start the conversion, I clicked onto the newly installed "Pinnacle" desktop icon and then clicked onto several choices they offer - such as "record directly to CD" or "record onto computer".
Last, I clicked onto "Start recording" on laptop screen menu and reached over and pressed "Play" on the Handicam.
Then you go do something else. Do not plan to use your computer while tape is being converted.
I have already made 8 CDs and will next work on converting my old VHS tapes.
Next I plan to learn to use the Windows "MovieMaker" software program that came with my Windows Vista OS. That will allow me to edit my tapes and add titles, etc.
I recommend this product highly.
