The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera captures images with an astonishing 14.7-megapixel resolution that makes it easy to take clear, sharp photos or you can crop unwanted parts of an image and enlarge the rest, thereby creating a beautifully composed photo that retains outstanding detail. The 28mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit Lens of the camera lets users capture images of expansive scenery, and when shooting in tight or crowded indoor spaces, the wide-angle lens fits more people in the photo. In addition, the high-performance, next-generation image processing system of the FX150 -The Venus Engine IV - not only helps the camera render exquisitely beautiful images, and capture images with amazing speed, but also makes the camera more energy-efficient, allowing 330 pictures (CIPA) per battery charge.
The DMC-FX150 provides easy access to manual control, letting users adjust the shutter speed as desired, giving the user freedom to render artistic images of ordinary scenes. There is also a multi-exposure function that superimposes up to three consecutively shot images together, creating a surrealistic effect that cannot be achieved with a single image alone. The camera also includes bracketing functions with exposure bracketing, and a color bracketing function that can record color, monochromatic and sepia shots of an image at the same time with a single press of the shutter button. In addition the AF control allows user to set focus freely among 11 focus points, and the white balance function provides two-axis compensation with a color temperature setting that allows more precise adjustment.
In addition to manual controls, the FX150 also offers Panasonics Intelligent Auto (iA) mode that provides the user with automatic settings adjustments depending on the shooting environment. Included in the iA modes is Panasonic's exclusive AF (auto focus) Tracking technology. AF tracking enables the camera to lock focus on a moving object, and increases Face Detection accuracy, allowing for crisp, sharp-focused shots even if the subject moves while shooting the image.
The 2.7-inch Intelligent LCD lets you check the focus, frame the shot, and use functions like thumbnail display and calendar view in comfort, with no eye strain. It also ensures clear, easy viewing in all lighting situations by automatically boosting the LCD backlighting when shooting outdoors in bright sunshine, as well as adjusting the frame rate when shooting in low-lit situations, thereby giving the display the most appropriate clarity in any situation without using extra energy.
The DMC-FX150 also features High Definition (HD) video capabilities with a resolution of 1280 x 720p at 30fps. Still photos can also be shot in a 16:9 aspect ratio for optimal full-screen viewing on a HDTV. You can even even enjoy watching videos in HD quality and view still images by connecting the DMC- FX150 via an optional Panasonic component cable (DMW-HDC2) to any HDTV display. Plus you'll get Panasonic's SILKYPIX Developer Studio 3.0 SE Software, which provides for easy editing and developing of your cameras images.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
I purchased this "Lumix DMC-FX150" a week ago. So far, It's working great, I mean, greater than I expect.
I am a professional photographer and actually from Japan. So, I am not really sure about US point-shoot camera market, but I know about Japanese one and in my research, in Japanese market, Panasonic LUMIX is the No.1 brand in there for now and they stood above the biggest camera brand like Canon or Nikon a few years ago. The best seller model is "LUMIX FX40" not "Lumix DMC-FX150". But still I think "Lumix DMC-FX150" also the one of the best point-shoot camera.
I think the main reason for that is from "Stabilizer". They put "Stabilizer" on point-shoot camera first in the world.
That is a great feature and was the trigger for No.1 a few years ago. In spite of success of that, they didn't stop evolving the LUMIX brand. They have been adding a variety of functions and features.
Let's say about "Lumix DMC-FX150", this is the first point-shoot camera having 14.7 mega pixels in the world.
Secondary it is also in the first group that has RAW file systems as a point-shoot camera. (I think only this "Lumix DMC-FX150" has RAW file system in a real compact point-shoot camera because I think the point-shoot cameras which are like "PowerShot G10", "Nikon COOLPIX P6000" or some like that, are not a real compact real point-shoot camara, almost like SLR and too bulky to carry, not for daily life camera or It's like for professional not for ordinary camera people).
Thirdly, it also had a real manual exposure not by exposure compensation. You can adjust apertures, shutter speed and ISO.(That feature is only by "Limix DMC-FX150" except for those cameras like too big point-shoot camera I mentioned above.)
And it has high ISO 6400 and more and more features!
In conclusion, I would like to say "Don't stick to biggest camera brand Canon or Nikon". Japanese other brands, in fact, have more efficient and sophisticated functions and features than them.
"Limix DMC-FX150" gives you excellent stabilizer, 14.7 mega pixels, RAW file systems (More, it allows you to shoot by RAW + JPEG!!), Manual exposure, ISO 6400, Leica lens and an elegant design!!
I forgot to mention the design, that is also one of the reasons for No.1 japanese share. "Limix DMC-FX150" has the classic design. Most Japanese point-shoot camera's design are just like a toy that don't deliver us the feeling of superiority and quality.
For now, I think "Limix DMC-FX150" is the best point-shoot camera in the world.
Don't be picky about insignificant things like x3.6 optical zoom (I think it is enough as a pont-shoot camera.), Battery cover is easy to open, cannot zoom in video mode, those can not be the reason to miss this amaizing one.
Let me say again, Panasonic Lumix is the No.1 Brand in Japan beyond Canon or Nikon.
Recently, I've heard Panasonic stopped to produce this excellent camera in order to get ready the next model.
But now is the chance to get it. Almost all shops start to sell this by half price!! Or wait and see the unseen next breakthrough. Thank you so much for your time to read my poor English.
Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
I used my new FX150 on the intensive side during my April holiday (more than 800 pictures, day and night). Pictures were superb, LCD bright, use easy and I greatly appreciated the small size of the camera. But after two weeks, I began to have problems with the auto-focus. I had to put the camera at Off many times before working properly and after, the lens extension jammed.Panasonic repaired it freely and quickly when I came back, but I missed many good shots at the end of my travel in South America. Tears...

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
I bought this as a replacement for a lost FX 100, which subsequently was recovered, so I have both.
The most noticeable differences (1) more detail(megapixels count!) (2) shoots JPG, raw or raw and JPG(3)ability to rotate pictures in camera, a really nice feature and (4)separate switch to review, so no need to change settings to review pictures.
You still csnnot zoom in video mode, a drawback. I do not find the package flimsy or weak and have never had my battery door pop open, as was mentioned by another reviewer.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
This is a fine camera.
I previously owned (and still sometimes use) Nikon Coolpix cameras - the controls on the Nikons are slightly more intuitive, but not enough to be a major factor.
One difference from the Nikons - the Lumix will not allow "zooming in" while in movie mode.
The high megapixel count on this Lumix produces very detailed images, and this version, unlike the 10 megapixel version (I had one of these), produces RAW images, a great improvement.
No viewfinder, and in very bright light, it is hard to see the screen - but not unexpected for a camera of this type.
As is most cameras of this type, with LCD as the "live" viewfinder, there is lag between pressing the button and the shutter reacting.
so more difficult for action shots than my digital SLR.
I'm uncertain why this camera is not more dominant in the marketplace - it is an excellent camera.

This camera takes great shots for a compact P&S. Obviously, there will be a lot of trial and error to find the settings that best support the shot you are looking for, but, the controls are intuitive and easy to manage. I use it for leisure and landscape shots. If you want a camera that can fit in your pocket or purse, this is a great choice. RAW is also supported which is an added bonus.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
the Leica lens together with the Panasonic technology make yet again a terrific camera, which I would venture to say takes as good pictures as I could ever get with my analog M6 Leica. No one who sees the files that I have thinks that it is possible to get such good results from such a small camera. With the added advantage of small size therefore you can always carry it around in your pocket. Nothing to say of all those places that are dangerous to hang around with a more bulky camera that doesn't even deliver the whopping 14.5 million pixels images. Congratulations for such a great product.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
For a P&S priced this high (and geared, I assumed, toward pros), I was expecting a lot more. The battery door is flimsy plastic (with a cheap feeling plastic switch) and has popped open three times in my pocket already. I also found the plastic camera body itself felt a bit cheap (has that almost hollow plastic sound when you tap it) The four-way controller on the back is annoying because it's easy to unintentionally press the buttons with the back of your thumb when holding the camera to shoot. You can't read the silver-on-silver icons on the four-way in anything other than bright light. I found the auto focus unpredictable. Noise was extreme when shooting with a flash in low-light. You can't zoom in video mode (kind of annoying). Shutter lag was a bit slower than I was hoping for, too.
On the positive side: When the focus nailed it, the sharpness was pretty incredible for a P&S. Black body is very cool. LCD is bright and crisp, and having 28mm is fabulous.

Comments about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 Digital Camera (Black):
I bought this as a travel companion to my Canon DSLR and lenses, to use
when I don't want to lug the gear. The photos are sharp, right on with
color, and the HD QT mov's are surprisingly crisp. I find the menus
intuitive and easy to use. I find little noise in the dark areas when
fiddling in Aperture. Unfortunately, Aperture doesn't support these RAW
files yet, but I'll cross my fingers that Apple will correct this.
There's no zooming when shooting video, but since that's not this unit's
primary function I won't sweat that. Lots of nice features, and I can
highly recommend it after three days of play.
