As a relatively advanced amateur photographer, I debated for a year-and-a-half about whether or not I could justify owning an Epson Multimedia Photo Viewer. The decision I made was the right one for me!
I use my P-6000 "in the field" to quickly (and I do mean quickly, a great advantage) download my photos so I can view and evaluate them in terms of whether or not there is a need to re-shoot. The four inch screen is fantastic rather than being limited by the smaller screens on my cameras. I often zoom in to check details of my shots and often take a look at the histogram as well. I truly appreciate the flashing areas of over and under exposure which also assist me in the evaluation of my shots. Having the larger screen also helps me to evaluate the composition as well.
Later, back home, I love the fact that I can organize, create folders, edit, and then print directly from the P-6000. It is also a great tool for showing my shots to other folks and again, the four inch screen is fantastic. The color is amazing on such a small unit and I could not be happier with this piece of equipment.
The only disadvantage was the price, but I figured this will be a piece of equipment that I will have and use for a very long time.
Did I make the right decision? Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

Maybe I've just happened to get lemons but I've been really disappointed with these Epson Viewers. They are really slow loading so not a great choice for any kind of work flow that depends on a certain amount of speed...and its just not enough storage for the price. I have sent my current Epson Viewer in twice to be fixed and each time it returned with less hard drive space. Just not worth the money in my opinion. I'm in the market for new brand.

THE EPSON P6000 PHOTO VIEWER IS capable of storage and viewing digital images both in jpeg and raw formats, storage and playing of MP3 FILES, and storage and playing mpeg4 video files.
There is connectivity for a computer but also for compact flash and sd cards.
Storage is accomplished on a 80 gb hard disk.
I have not explored the number of images the 80 gb can hold, but as a back=up storage unit in the field the p6000 indeed is very handy. The display is on an lcd 4 inch screen with very clear resolution. I bought the viewer to show images in the company of others where a projector or computer screen is not available, and expected the unit also to show powerpoint presentations. But powerpoint files are not recognized and cannot even be loaded. That's a disappointment.
The navigation among the commands in the software is not as intuitive or windows-similar as I would like. For these reasons I have given 4 and not 5 stars

The Epson P-6000 (or larger P-7000)is my favorite media back up device when traveling. I back up my flash cards each evening of a trip. I can view the images, share them with others, and do an initial sorting while traveling. This one is 80 gig which I find quite sufficient for a two week trip. It is easy to use, and the immediate feedback on the large LCD screen is really fun to have. I am not fond of carrying lots of equipment, and, for me, this beats having to travel with a computer. As soon as I am home I can transfer the images to my computer for processing. I love it!

I am a long time Epson customer having bought several printers, scaners and a P-2000 in the past. I bought the P-6000 on 1/20/10 based on the past performance of Epson products. The P-6000 was used on 4 occasions with no problems till it froze up while I was on vacation in Uganda I called Epson on returning and was given a service center to send it to. After sending it I was called back by the service center and told they do not repair these and to call Epson. I called them and after a lengthly conversation I was informed it would cost [$] for a replacement. I explained this was outrageous for an obviously defective product and declined. My advice is not to buy Epson; they care nothing about customer loyalty and the junk they sellJHP

Super for having handy when Im out and about shooting for a back up. Its small has a long battery and the 4inch screen is very sharp. I use it alot and love it.. The only problem I have is its slow when reading RAW files.. Jpegs are fine but the bigger files are slow! I am sure they know this and will work it out!

With thousands of images to share with others, the 6000 does it expertly. Pulled Christmas images from card and showed on large LCD so parents with vision problems could see. Much lighter to carry than a laptop for storing critical images in the field. Fabulous screen images on the 6000 itself to assist in image review. Histogram, image data, zoom, and blown out areas are very helpful. Definitely purchase if you need to see images and save them in the field.

I took this with me to a wedding so that my second shooters could back up their images. It definitely served its purpose, I ended the day with all the images on hand and didn't have to wait for them to send them to me. The download time is adequate, could be faster but we are working with large cards and RAW files, so it is understandable. It took longer to download a card to the drive than it would my laptop, but the space it saves is invaluable. The only thing I have to complain about is the battery life, it almost didn't last long enough to download 8 cards. I will just remember to take the power cord with me! I previously used a Hyperdrive and found the menus to be confusing, but the Epson is incredibly user-friendly. The menus make common sense and both of my shooters, who had never used it before, were able to figure it out in seconds!
