This Ikelite ultra compact housing is designed for the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW digital camera. It is an injection molded clear polycarbonate case, known for its strength and corrosion-free properties. The housing offers an unobstructed view of the camera's information and control functions and operates safely to a depth of 200'. Easy open latch along with drop in camera loading makes set-up a breeze. The housing is sized and weighted for near neutral buoyancy and superb handling underwater.
A flash diffuser is included to improve lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is used underwater. For optimum lighting underwater an optional external strobe is recommended. Ikelite strobes are brighter, recycle faster and offer wider coverage than the camera's flash. Being farther from the camera lens, the strobe reduces the illumination of particles in the water which helps eliminate backscatter.

Comments about Ikelite 6230.30 Housing f/ Olympus Stylus 1030 SW:
I just used the product in Costa Rica and took it to a max depth of 70ft (21M). The housing is easy to use and you'll have no issues manipulating the buttons when you don't have gloves on. If you are wearing gloves, it's pretty obvious it will be much more difficult to change the macro or flash settings and you might need to take your gloves off.
One thing to note, on my first dive with the housing, it flooded. I realized afterward that this was caused by the wrist strap having a small little tab on the very end. I wasn't paying attention and it got closed in the housing, causing it to flood. I've since cut that tab off and would recommend you do the same. Luckily for me, my camera is waterproof on it's own to 10m, so this oversight by the maker and myself didn't do any lasting damage.
Overall, this is a great product and I'm excited to use it again and work on my photo taking ability underwater!

In May 2010 I bought an Ikelite 6230.30 housing for the Olympus Stylus 1030 SW camera, from B&H. The camera fit easily into the housing and the controls worked easily and reliably. In Key Largo I used the housing at the Spanish Anchor and Hole in the Wall. It was used the next day off Tavernier at Spanish Lady and Davis Ledge. Maximum depth was 50 feet but most of the time was spent at 20 to 30 feet. This model 6230.30 housing was completely trouble free and worked as I hoped it would. The shape and configuration of the housing made it very easy to use, an important thing to a fumble fingured guy like me.If I could change anything about the housing it would be to lessen the spring tension on the shutter release lever.[...]I highly recommend this housing and Florida Keys diving.

Just bought this housing for a recent dive trip to Jamaica. Did 7 dives and no leaks. Another plus is the housing is designed for accessory upgrades; ie arm extensions, strobes, etc. In Caribbean water temp the buttons were easy for me to manipulate and you do have access to all of the buttons. The reason I gave it a four was because my local waters are quite cold and I tend to wear gloves; I believe it will be difficult to use the setting's buttons (however, the power and shutter button are quite large and would be easy to use with gloves.) On a side note I would def recommend a strobe for underwater photographers and full color photos; if you're getting it just for point & shoot than the flash on the camera and plastic diffuser that comes with the housing create decent blue/green photos.

Comments about Ikelite 6230.30 Housing f/ Olympus Stylus 1030 SW:
I've used a few other flashes that were triggered by the camera's strobe. This is the first one I felt did a good job of actually pulling it off. The exposure compensation dial off the sensor head worked very nicely. The unit also seems to be very well designed.
The arm was also very easy to adjust to point in the direction I wanted. The only improvement I could suggest would be to be able to remove the flash from the arms to make it easier to pack, but that is pretty minor.
