Altec Lansing Mix iMT800 Boombox
Bring back the old school with the room filling, bass thumping Altec Lansing Mix iMT800 Boombox. With built-in grab handles and optional battery power, the iMT800 lets you take the music from your iPod, iPhone, the FM radio, and, thanks to dual auxiliary-in jacks, any other audio player anywhere you go. There's even a clip-on remote control that goes everywhere you do too.
When it comes to audio quality, the iMT800 embodies a number of features designed to bring your music to life. Horn-loaded polypropylene tweeters and two custom-designed drivers are built-into the system. The Boombox also features an XdB bass-enhanced side-firing subwoofer and tuned passive subwoofer. In addition, a 7-band graphic equalizer lets you fine tune your music.
When it comes to use with the iPhone, the system is interference-free, meaning you don't have to switch to airplane mode. The iMT800 also automatically pauses the music on your iPhone when an incoming call is received. Other useful features of the Boombox include a high contrast LCD, onboard controls, and the option to power the unit using the included AC wall adapter. The iMT800 brings iPod and iPhone compatibility, portability, and well-rounded sound features - among other user-friendly functions - to the table.

I spent a long time looking and searching for an ipod dock that bumped with out loss of sound quality and was portable. I found both. Many reviews I read said the iMT800 was less aesthetically pleasing than other docks, but I rather enjoy seeing the speakers like an 80's boombox. This dock gets very loud and fulfills every requirement I had for my search.
The only con that I have is that it does not fit the original ipod video (which I have). I use it with out an ipod insert.

The unit produces loud, clear, fantastic sound right up to its max volume. It can easily fill a large room at a party. It would be nice to have a shuffle button on the remote or a way to attached the power adapter and iPod adapters when you are traveling, but other than that, the unit is almost perfect.

First of all this thing is really bass-heavy and I agree with just about everybody other reviewer who said the best sound is to be had by turning it down. How much, and where is up to you and the position of the unit. Mids and highs are clear, so this is digital amplification. Power without heat or size. Sounds warm and woody, not at all tinny. Obviously the better the source the better the sound, ie 128 mp3s aren't going to sound as good as apple lossless. But a judicious hand on the volume control can evaporate the former's harshness.

Excellent sound quality. Useful in any room or even outdoors. This is a great portable outfit as well. I take mine to work which is pretty much outside. Works and sounds great even in the low temperature Winter. You have to be careful when transporting it though; the power cord jack outlet can wear out on you if it gets jarred a lot.

I bought this speaker for my annual Oak Island beach trip since the house we stay in doesn't have a proper sound system and the speaker options I've used in the past have been lame. This sucker has plenty of volume, plenty of bass, and plenty of attitude. It's ugly and heavy but I think those are actually strong suits for this speaker system. The remote works well and feels well-made, unlike flimsy remotes on systems past. Two auxiliary audio cables come with the speaker for hooking up other audio devices...they could be longer. Otherwise I'm pleased as punch with the iMT800.

I bought this product after reading reviews about its quality sound output. I wanted a quick way to listen to the music on my Ipod touch while charging the ipod. I am very pleased with the sound and equalizer feature.
I have a house with fairly large rooms and this boombox readily fills a 15X25 high ceiling space with music while not sounding small.

Bought the IMT800 because I wanted to stream Pandora with my new Itouch. Received quickly and I picked the adapter tray for Iphone as none were listed as Itouch. My first attempt to stream failed and there was an issue with charging as it says it is not supported but most the time it does, second time everything working, mostly commercial free music streaming on a great sounding radio from Itouch. I am an Altec fan as my PC speakers are Altec. Iam amazed @ the great sound & bass they get out of small speakers
