The Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is a well suited solution for home studios, project recording and live sound reinforcement alike. The side-address condenser microphone features a cardioid polar pattern for minimal feedback and off-axis noise. The element and output stage combine to produce a smooth yet natural audio quality with low noise.
An 80Hz high-pass filter switch elliminates low frequency hum and any associated noise. A -10dB Pad switch is featured to provide more headroom when capturing transient signals that may otherwise cause peak distortion. The cost effective AT2035 is an ideal choice for capturing vocals, general instruments and speaker cabinets.

AT2035 mics are used to record performances of professional, and serious amateur instrumental and choral musical groups. Music recorded is typically classical. Condenser microphones do this very well and the AT2035 mics perform completely to my expectations, good directionality, sensitivity and frequency response. I made the purchase decision based on spec sheet performance and recording results bear them out. Only thing I don't like is the shock absorbing mount included with the mic. While its elastic is quite substantial, if it breaks for some reason, there is no other way to mount these mics. Replacement mount from Audio Technica is pretty pricy. Oh, one other thing. The mic is a cardiod directional and there's no indication on the mic itself or in the literature, which side is the front to be pointed at the music source, and which is the back. I guessed that the logo side is the front, and the side with the switches is the back. Subsequent testing proved that to be the correct guess. It would be nice if the mics themselves could be so marked by AT.

This mic is a great starter side-address condenser. it handles fairly high SPL and has a fairly linear frequency response. I have used it on B3, Guitar Cabs and as Drum Overheads. I have found it to add some coloration on the top end, but nothing that can't be dealt with. For the price, it can be tossed around and left onstage without having to worry about it.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Side-Address Microphone:
Before I ordered the AT2035, I was using a Shure SM58. I like this microphone much more. The tone is very clear, it picks up my voice very well, and it doesn't pick up too much background noise.
It will pick up SOME noise, though. I've had to separate my computer from the area I record in because of this, but that's simply because it's such a good microhpone.
The AT2035 also comes with a feature to prevent some background interference. It works well, just not perfectly.
I find the microphone to be very well constructed. Feels strong in my hand, and connected to a mic stand, doesn't really need to be touched again. It just works.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Side-Address Microphone:
We use this AT mic exclusively in the studio for naration and voice over for our on-line learning and avitar narration. It captures clear vocals that add to our learning sessions. The reality about adding audio to learning sessions is that it is best when you don't recognize it's there. Bad audio will kill your project. The AT 2035 delivers audio that impacts, not detracts from learning experiences.

I bought a bunch of low end mics and compared them all. I like this one for upright bass, vocals and as a general 'mic anything' mic. It can really color the sound of electric guitar amps which may be good or bad... but for anything else I really like it. It doesn't sound as harsh or distorted as other cheap mics. Also definitely the best of the AT20xx series. The 2050 seems to have a lower output, and the 2020 doesn't have the pad and low cut and didn't seem quite as good on bass when I tried it. Its just my opinion though. The best way is to try mics out for yourself.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Side-Address Microphone:
As a broadcast announcer, I've used many mics over the years, including top of the range Neumann's, Shure, AKG, EV, Sennheiser, etc. etc. From the moment I first spoke into this mic, I loved it and it loved me. It has a silky but crisp sound and a rich, thick bottom end without being boomy -- something not easy to find in one mic.
Like with any mic, sometimes you have to experiment to find the right mic for the right voice or the right application, but this one certainly works for me. Move in close and you can control the amount of bottom end. Move around the mic and you can control the top end to suit your preferences without colouring the sound.
Excellent off-axis rejection. No sign of computer fans in the background and recording with a jackhammer operating outside one day came up clean and quiet.
And for the price, there's nothing else even close that I've come across.
An awesome mic for studio broadcast applications as long as you don't mind working in quite close to the mic.

Bought this mic as an upgrade to some MXLs that came with a kit: 990 and 991. I record a classical Alvarez Yari and a Taylor 414 CE. The mic feeds into Focusrite Sapphire pro 24 and into a Mac Book Pro using Logic 9 LE monitored through M Audio BX5a
I really like the sound. Much improvement over the MXLs. When I play back the track its kind of spooky - its literally like listening to myself (squeaks buzzes and all).
It feels like a pro piece of gear. Very solid and the shock mount is a plus (though I don't really need it).
I find that it works very well about 10 inches from the neck joint and to my left.
The bass roll is really a great feature for taming the proximity effect especially on the classical and when tuned to a drop D (lots of low energy)
I would have paid full price an felt like I got a good deal but rebate was even better.

I use a pair of these mics for a hammer dulcimer and Irish (Uillean) bagpipes. For recording they are very good but very sensitive. Excellent sound reproduction without altering the tone of the instrument. I'll use them for a live performance in a couple of weeks.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Side-Address Microphone:
Very pleased with this mic. Very versatile, good overall sound for a killer price. Im using it both for voice and acoustic guitar. I would recommend this to anyone putting together a home studio. After the $30 mfg rebate came to less than a hundred bucks. What more can you ask. Don't spend $$$ unless you really have the dough. I own a Blue Bluebird and when comparing it I can see a noticeable difference especially in the top end but then again it's in a different price range altogether. I am giving it 5 stars due to performance for the price. Oh, i almost forgot, the mount (like most of AT mounts) are not so good but will do the job.

As long as you remember that this is not going to sound like a U87, you'll be fine. Could use a nice tube preamp with it to warm it up a bit. Otherwise solid quality, versatile, and produces a big enough vocal sound to be useful. Good all-around mic for not too much money.

I bought the AT2035 to do some home recording mostly for acoustic guitar and vocals and I couldn't be happier. Great price as well. I've just begun to test it's sound capacitance in relation to quality but I'm satisfied with the purchase already. You can't beat the price!

I run a PRO-TOOLS VO studio in Coral Springs, Florida. I record VO's for sales presentions, comercials, movie opens, movie sound tracks, cartoon's, etc. Depending on the announcer, I normally use a Neumann TLM170, AKG 414, Sennheiser MD421, MXL V88 or the MXL tube V69 as my normal mics for a VO session. On a receint session I mounted the AT2035, as soon as the announcer opened his mouth I knew I had picked the right microphone for that particular session!!! A great mic sold to me by B&H Photo, at a great price!!!

I bought this mic after a friend recommended it to me and I have to say that it is amazing. It has great audio quality and it is compatible with a range of preamps. The price is cheap which may mislead people but with right mixing and mastering you can produce studio quality sound. I really don't see anything that isn't great about this product.

This mic is wonderful! The quality of this product is top knotch. This mic also comes with a shock absorber and carrying case. Simply open the box, grab an XLR cable and slide it in. Notice the fine locking mechanism to prevent your cord from slipping out. The asthetics are pleasing, the sound is great, and the price is right...what more could you ask for?
