I am new at the high end digital cameras. The SP-565UZ does have a learning curve.
I took this camera to a UT Vols football game and it worked great! The zoom puts you on the field, and the "don't miss the shot" mode captured everything. Out door pictures are very good, again the zoom really is wonderful. I took over 800 pictures without changing the batteries!
It is hard to get the colors just right while taking indoor pictures and it doesn't take very good pictures without the flash. I am still learning how to work all the bells and whistles, it may (and I hope) it's more me than the camera. We took some family pictures and they didn't turn out very well, again I may need to read more and take more pictures. I had a Kodak w/7.1 mp and 12x zoom which right now I'm crying that I sold it, but the sports pictures with the zoom is much better than the Kodak.

I carry this camera in my car to take pictures at emergency scenes, ie. motor vehicle accidents and house fires. I need the 20X capability and the high frames per second advertised. This is where the problem comes in. Shooting at the highest resolution, the frames per second comes out to be about one frame per second. Lowering the resolution increases the frames per second if you are willing to give up the quality.

Very easy to use. Quick on/off. Zoom is fantastic, but can be touchy if there is anything between you and your target. Great for sports action. Get yourself rechargeable batteries and you're set!

I love to take pictures, not professionally, but I like to try new things, zoom, etc. My wife on the other hand likes to stay strictly with an easy shoot camera. This camera is perfect for both of us. (And my 16 yr. old can take videos of his older sister and her boyfriend without them knowing it!)

Comments about Olympus SP-565 UZ Digital Camera (Black):
As a novice I was apprehensive in starting with such a sophisticated camera. However, with a well written instruction book and a knowledgeable camera buff in the family the transition from film to memory card was easy. Repetitive use makes it easier as I progress. Only negative is that bright sun obliterates the LCD. Getting used to the view finder in such cases takes practice. I love the feel and convenience of the controls.

I bought this camera mostly because of the name. I'm glad I did, it's very easy to use. I love the zoom although you really need to put it on a tripod to get the best quality picture. The LCD screen could use a little bit of a makeover, it's hard to see in bright light. Over all it's a great camera for the price.

This is a great camera with so may options! I'm still learning how to use some of the features. It is a good point and click camera and leaves room for me to learn to use it at a more sophisticated level. I am so happy with this purchase. We owned an Olympus before this one and I loved it. This was a nice replacement. Olympus makes great cameras.

Nice little camera with a big zoom capability. On-screen shooting guide w/ preview for specific camera settings (eg. landscape, backlight). Image stabilization feature. Advanced shooting modes (eg. Auto, Aperature/Shutter priority etc). Wide landscapes to high zoom sports action, this little camera can handle them all.

Lighter than its predecessors with lots more features. Only negative I've found so far is the lid to the battery case which is difficult to close. Same applied to previous models - fragile lid which breaks easily.
