I use the product to surf the net and watch movies on the road.PROs : Big screen, good resolution, nice touchscreen, hold huge amounts of photos/movies, long battery life. FLASH COMPATIBILITY (wich is awsome)CONs : Really heavy, complicated settings, lose the wi-fi connection everytime you stop a little (wich is a promoted feature!), need a touchscreen pencil to work good. TO ACESS MORE ADVANCED FEATURES, YOU'LL ALWAYS NEED TO GET PLUGINS (wich are [$] ea.) FROM ARCHOS. Some modules are'nt compatible.I tought, looking around in the Archos website that this product was so AWSOME that it worth that big money. I did'nt regret buying it but dont think you'll have fun with it right ou of the box.

Archos... I cannot understand you.. but I love you... kind of ;-)

This is the second PMP that I buy from Archos (the first one being the 605 WIFI 30GB) and although it is a great unit, it still lacks some polish in some areas. Let's start by listing the pros though:

1) Best capacity (Hard disk space - 160GB) for the money out there out of any competing player
2) Good screen (although it's a matte screen, not glossy)
3) Great Battery life for music and video (I got 32 hours of music and 6:12 of video at medium back-light and full volume using headphones)
4) Battery is REMOVABLE!
5) Fast Internet Browsing
6) Touch support has been updated from previous players (very responsive!)
7) Soft-keyboard is great (mostly due to the big screen!)
8) Supports Flash (note: The OS includes Flash Lite and not a full flash version, hence some internet sites such as HULU are not viewable!)

Compared to other similar players, Archos wins hands down! Neither Cowon, Creative, Sony, Samsung, Apple offers all that Archos offers and at this price! (heck.. the iPod Touch 32GB is still more than most Archos 5) But now, let's delve into the Cons... :-(

1) Random freezes when playing videos (I thought it was a specific codec combination but it seems to just happen randomly)
2) These units are billed as INTERNET MEDIA TABLETS and yet they don't offer FULL Flash support? Wow!
3) The need of PLUG-INS to unlock the FULL capability of the unit!
4) If album art are embedded on MP3s, the beginning of the tracks skip for a bit.
5) Total lack of support from Archos! (i.e. THEY ARE NOT PLANNING ON RELEASING MORE FIRMWARE UPDATES FOR THE ARCHOS 5 and ARCHOS 7!!!!)
6) The casing is a fingerprint magnet (bought a case just to avoid this! ;-)

All in all, my primary use for this is at work and when traveling and it does an ok job. I love that even though is heavy, the big screen is a major plus for me. If you don't care so much about capacity, then you can probably decide on a Cowon S9, Sony Walkman X-Series, or the mainstream PMP the iPod Touch. If you want more disk space, good enough music and video playback and great battery life then Archos it is BUT just be warned... expect some crashes and little problems here and there... Thanks.

I use the product to record movies or programs from the tv.
I see/hear movies/pictcurs/music whit the product.


The amazing is the option to connect to my computer whit out a cable - only by WiFi.
I see/hear movies/pictcurs/music whit the product only by the WiFi option - I dont need to put them in my ARCHOS.
The product allow to record or play movies in HD format.

The ARCHOS 7 unit dont have the option to be an a GPS as the ARCHOS 5.
I wish that the product have a bluetooth connection.
