It is Great Product. Has a Big Screen which is really nice to watch movies..Though it has internet capabilities, the browsing experience has not been great and disapointing but as an entertainment media has been great. I do not agree to buy additional plugins to play other types of videos and as well the number of accessories that comes along with it is very limited. But i love it..

The Archos 7 has a lovely clear screen and excellent sound quality. Widgets and things work fine - presumably fixed by firmware update after someone wrote that they're erratic.

I bought it for music in the car, and it's superb for that (since I found out how to index things). It has other features which were a pleasant surprise. I had to buy extra software to read MPG files, but that wasn't expensive. I'm now very happy with it.

I had considerable trouble with music (but not video) files being declared corrupt but then playing on the second or third attempt, couldn't get help (see "what not to do" below), and finally discovered that after adding files, you need to run the indexing widget (Tools, Settings, Storage, Update Arc Library) - this was not clear from the documentation.

Disappointing:
1 The PDF reader is slow to build pages, and scrolling can be erratic (you can find that you've tried to scroll up, tried again, and suddenly flip two pages).
2 Very little technical information. It should be possible to add software, but I have found no information as to how this can be achieved.

What not to do:
- Don't register the product through the Archos itself, since you will not later be able to associate it with a Web account, and then you won't be able to get email support, which is your only practical option if you're outside the Americas.

Someone wrote that the battery can't be removed. It can - slide the release catch on the bottom of the machine sideways, slide the battery up, and now it lifts off.

After owning the 704wifi (80GB) and the 705wifi (160GB) models, I spected more about the Archos 7 performance. Other than the big 320GB hard disk, some plus about the web surfing speed and (maybe) a little more touch screen sensibility, I don´t found any more. And the Archos 7 can´t to connect by itsef to the TV. It needs the DVR station or the docking station. So, it has less connectivity and features than the past models.
The audio and the image quality is very good, same as the other Archos models.
I will be award with the Archos products in the future.

This Archos 7 is great! Screen is huge and beautiful. Easy to use and excellent amount of storage. Easily slips into my purse for travel. Definitely too big to put in a pocket - but I wanted a big screen. One minor quibble - shows a lot of fingerprints!

I use my new Archos 7 to stream some movies and music from my Mac. The good thing would be: the way it looks and its cool to use touch screen with your finger, so I can watch my movies while in bed without disturbing my wife.
The down side would be you have to pay for the add ons and I have not been able to buy them directly from the Archos web page. Also I would like to install other programs on it and its not an easy task (maybe I need more knowledge on Archos OS). Anyway, I like the way it feels and will take it with me for traveling and see how it works.

The good:
- multiple and high storage capacity: photos, videos, music, audiobooks
- big enough screen and good resolution
- very easy to use (not complicated at all) and no problems with touch screen
- quick web navigation, easy up to date firmware, quick response to any input command, clock, alarm, and other very useful features
- good and fast performance and functioning
The inconveniences:
- heavy weight
- widgets doesn't work very good and once lost, can't be reinstalled (even if download is ok)
- there is not technical assistance for countries outside Europe or USA
(not even at archos web site)
- battery cannot be pull out of the device
- best Plug-ins and other adding software are pay for

The reason I purchased an Archos 7 was to use it to view movies for entertainment and listen to audio for enlightenment while on trips abroad.
What I like about this device is the beautiful screen and sound clarity. What I don't like about it is the difficulty in downloading movies, the dependence it has on certain software, and the fact that you need to purchase any of several add-ons that should be included. The plug for the computer attachment is inconveniently located on the bottom of the device, making it difficult to stand it upright while transfering data. Finally, I had to send it back for a replacement because it suddenly stopped being recognized by my computer (so I couldn't download anything else).

The Archo 7 sounds like a dream machine on their website. Actually, more like a nightmare. They imply that you can purchase a GPS download for 39.95 (No you cannot). They say the DVR will schedule and record TV (they discontinued this feature). You can web brose, but you can't do anything with it (no save feature). However, the pictures, music and videos are outstanding on a 7 inch screen. I ended up buying a netbook to do what I wanted.

First off update the firmware. That is a must. If you run into any trouble like I did though, none of the update instructions work. Instead of listening to anything Archos says, just download the file to the root drive of your player, browse the file menu under "Settings" and double click on the file. That is the only way it worked. Also, the wifi is sad. I have trouble connecting in place where my laptop claims my signal is "excellent". The screen is absolutely gorgeous. If you download the DVD plugin, I made my life easier by ripping files with DVDFab Platinum and just copying using the Main movie setting to individually labeled movie folders. The sound is terrific as well.

The web browser is clean and sleek. If you calibrate the touch screen, use a stylus or something else. Typing on the keyboard can be touchy sometimes.

Overally the player is great but has many flaws that need to be overcome. Not all flash sites work too btw. If you have your mind set on one of these I highly suggest the 320gb. I filled mine up in less than a week and wish I had more room.
