The Tamrac 5689 is a great fit for the later G-series Canons. It holds my G11 and a couple of spare SD cards, and accommodates a ProStrap Deluxe Loop Strap. Wear it on your belt and your co-workers and others will just think you've got a larger cell phone. The 5689 looks smart, and the Velcro means never scratching your camera with a zippered enclosure. The only caveat I have, however, is that the Velcro has tended to "pull" a little in the six months I've owned the case.

I bought this bag because of the large size to accomodate my Panasonic LX3. I like to have the camera accessible on my belt while my Nikon D200 with a large zoom rests my camera bag over my shoulder. Most of the other digital cases I have used have been well padded but frustrating when it comes to getting to the camera and redepositing it quickly and safely. I was always afraid that I was going to drop it while fumbling with zippers and tight fitting sides. This bag takes care of all those problems. With the velcro flap I can get my Panasonic out in one easy motion and redeposit it quickly and safely. So, it does what I bought it for. Caveats or cons, unfortunately, are numerous. The bag does not have much padding in front and would be helped immensely by some. The LX3 fits very loosely, but I have fashioned a few small foam inserts which work very well. I prefer that it is a little too big rather than too tight. A little more internal or side padding would be good also. The small compartment on the outside for batteries or data cards is basically unusable (as are many on other cases). Most importantly, the belt loop is not the quick release style found on almost all other cases, so every day you have to unbuckle your belt and slide it on. Good luck getting it over to your left side easily. I appreciate the safety factor in the permanent style loop but Ive never had any problem with the quick release style, especially now that most companies include a backup snap. This is a decent case and I use it regularly with no problems. Until LowePro, CaseLogic or Tamrac come up with a large, well padded, quick release belt case this will do just fine

Wanted quick access (no zippers) for my Coolpix P7000. This allows as much but it isn't too quick because it's a tight fit into the pouch.

Fits my Canon G12 perfectly but I wish it held it horizontally rather than vertically so I could remove and replace it quicker.

This bag works very well for me. The pocket for an extra memory card is large enough to also hold an extra battery and a lens cloth .

This case is the most compact way to protect the G11 and some very small accessories such as memory cards, etc.
