Coronado's 40mm f/10 0.5Å H-alpha Solar Refractor Telescope is ideally suited for beginner solar observers or as a grab-and-go option for fast viewing sessions. It features a 40mm objective lens and dual etalons with a <0.5 Angstrom bandpass. The scope is offered here with a 20mm eyepiece that yields a practical 20x magnification, and an internal Sol Ranger solar viewfinder to safely aim the scope. This version of the PST is offered here without a mount or tripod, but is outfitted with a standard 1/4"-20 socket for use with most photo, video, or field tripods.
This purpose-built solar observer is tuned to the Hydrogen-alpha wavelength which highlights surface details such as prominences, active regions, and filaments. It features a primary 30mm tunable internal etalon with a stacked secondary external 40mm etalon to produce a thermally-stable system that allows you to view the Sun for extended periods of time, revealing our closest star in a comfortable red hue.
