When using Lightroom I found that a book really helped to learn how to use it. It is fairly easy to use but the book gave same great short cut keys. I bought Light room to help me keep track of all my millions of pictures and it is AWESOME! I have an external hard drive that I store all my pictures on and Lightroom allows me to view my pictures even if the drive is not connected to my computer! Sweet! It has allowed me to free up tons of space on my computer while still being able to view my pictures when my laptop is away from my external drive. Plus it allows you to move picture to photoshop and back without converting files.

I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer and purchased this program after learning to use it at a digital photography workshop. I am impressed with its ease of use and love its sophisticated photo organizing functions. The develop and print modules are easy to use. I have not yet used the web module. The other adobe program I use is Photo shop Elements and they seem to work well together

As a professional photographer and photojournalist, I can generate hundreds of images in a few days. Thus far, my image management and workflow efforts have been random at best. That is now changing with my purchase of Lightroom 2 and anticipation of Lightroom 3. Not only is it the nucleus of my digital processing, post-processing and cataloging system, I will be using it to catalog and archive scans of more than 30 years of film photography.

I was able to sit down and edit photos with this software the first night I had it. Photoshop and I do not see eye to eye, so it was a huge relief when I was able to use Lightroom right away. There's quite a bit still to learn, but my main reason for writing a review was to encourage those who are intimidated by photoshop. You will be able to give your photos a professional look with this program.

I purchased Adobe Lightroom 2 after using it for about a year in my photo class at school. It's such a nice product, user friendly, powerful, and great for those who print often. Before I purchased this I had been using Photoshop Elements which was alright, but just wasn't cutting it for the quantity of photos I have, and the amount of printing I do. Lightroom has five different modules, Library, Develop, Slideshow, Print, and web. The Library function is my favorite. It has organizational options such as collections, keywords, color coding, date taken, and ratings which make it very easy to use. I have my entire photo collection all in this one seamless piece of software. The Develop function is also great. I shoot in RAW (NEF) and the develop module supports this format. There is a host of adjustments that you can do the the photos from standard exposure to setting the hue, saturation, and luminance of each color channel. The best part is these adjustments don't directly alter the original image, so the image can always be reset to its unedited form. The presets also work great for bulk editing such as time lapse and other projects with large photo quantities. User presets are easily customizable. Next is the slideshow module. I haven't used it much but essentially it creates movies of your photos that you can post to a webpage or transfer to a disk. This works great for birthday parties, weddings, and other events where you want others to have a copy of your work. Second to last is the print module. This works flawlessly with my Canon Pro9000 MarkII. Its easy to set paper type, print size, and even create contact sheets and the like. The last module is the web module which I am yet to use. It seems very simple to operate though. It creates a layout for webpages (I don't have one yet) and can be exported in HTML and Flash among other formats.

Overall its an amazing product. Its worth way more than its price. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to expand on their photo editing options. Importing from a disk, device or any other place is easy. Exporting to your favorite photo site is just as flawless. Its just what I expected from Adobe, another great product. Just buy it, you won't regret the purchase one bit.

I use Lightroom to organize and develop photos for my photography business. It has incredible searchable metadata functions that has simplified my workflow. The most useful aspect, aside for organizational assistance, is that It allows for automation and customization of several aspects of workflow including preset exports ("export to web") which can be optimized for the web, emailing, or for high resolution files. The "develop" module is very powerful as well, with sliders for saturation, "vibrance", exposure and others that allow for complete development of photos.

A friend urged me to invest in LR2. As an amateur, I was reluctant thinking it was more than I needed and it would be too complicated for me.
I purchased a separate guide book, which has been invaluable, but it really is user friendly. There is still lots to learn, but I am already up and running, and finding it easier than ever to sort my pictures. I especially like it after a large shoot at a sporting event where I have 200-300 shots, and only 50 or so are keepers. LR allows me to quickly mark the keepers then go back for fine tuning. The development tools are amazing as well, especially the noise reducer. I understand this is even better in the soon to be released LR3!

If you are a pro or serious amateur, like myself, I would highly recommend this software.

Same as most of you in this digital age, I always take a large number of photos at any occasion not to mention family and friends photos every weekend. Apart from editing them, sorting them out is another time consuming job. Don't you think I rather spend more time taking photos than sitting at my desk editing them?

Well, LR 2 really does help boosting up my work flow. Starting from importing photos, I can add keywords and get organized. I can search my photos by date, place, name of person in the photos, etc. or combination of them, just like that.

Editing is also fast, all major tools I would need such as grad filter (love this one, amazing tool), spot removal, tilting & cropping, white balance and all lighting control are all well placed and easy to access.

I downloaded the 30 days trial version and didn't know what to do with my life, I mean, my photos when it expired.

i am an amateur enthusiast and started from the ground up with this wonderful program. i gradually outgrew adobe elements and wasnt ready yet for Adobe CS4, but i grew with this program and have yet to really fully exploit its riches. it is tremendously versatile in its organizing abilities but it is also possible do quite a bit of editing beyone entry level tasks. couple that with its easy collaboration with CS4 and all the plug ins now available for both these programs. i just bought another copy for my teenage granddaughter.

Great program once you learn it. There are so many things this program can do. The trick is learning all the short cuts and developing an efficient work flow. I recommend buying a book to compliement the program.
