i ordered this tripod for a friend who is trying to get started with a small business that involves taping some simple interviews. she didn't have a huge budget, so this tripod seemed to offer all the features she'd need: 2-stage legs, smooth pan & tilt, lightweight, leveling knob, and a sub [$] price tag.when it was delivered, all seemed to be fine until i tried leveling it. first, when the level bubble seemed to be right, it wasn't necessarily level (i know not to always trust it - what you see is most important). i made necessary adjustments for my shot, then panned. yikes! it got so far out of level (by simply panning - on a level surface, mind you) that it was as if i was getting ready to shoot an MTV-style interview with extreme canted angles. nothing looks out of whack on it, but somehow the head is off-kilter and means that anytime i pan, i have to readjust the leveling knob to make sure things are right. not good.i'm assuming that this is not standard for these tripods, so i'll be trying to exchange it or get it fixed (through the warranty, hopefully!).

I am a film student and received this tripod as a gift. I was super excited and had hand selected this specific brand. The FIRST TIME I received the tripod I found two problems1. The release lever that ejects the loading slate was stuck. It was stuck to the point that I called B&H asking if it was going to "break" if I "yanked it". It took a pair of pliers and my father's strength to actual unstick this lever, and there after it was still a difficult process.2. There are two turning locks on the camera that lock the up and downward pan motions. The lock on the left side of the head, opposite the guiding lever, snapped. By snapped, I mean the actual bolt broke in half - half of it in my tripod, half of it in my hand. I didn't even exert force on this lock, I was merely adjusting it.[...]The SECOND time I received this tripod.I VERY carefully opened up the box my tripod came in. I was removing the plastic wrap around the tripod and what falls to the floor?THE VERY SAME SCREW THAT HAD BROKEN THE FIRST TIME.It was not the same tripod, but the same exact spot was broken. This tripod is made of cheap materials and is not meant to last. This does NOT reflect B&H, but the manufacturer that creates this product. I have purchased from B&H in the past and will continue in the future, but to all amateur filmmakers out there looking for their first tripod DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND.Again. DO NOT BUY THIS TRIPOD

I've used $4,000 tripods down to $50 tripods. I definitely think you get the most bang for your buck with the TH-770 by Bescor. It's easy to use. And the head moves easily when following objects. Great buy!

Film student, used this product on maybe 2 shoots before the side screw broke clean off during set up. Been having to use it without being able to adjust head. Would love to be able to replace the screw without having to buy a new tripod or head, but there is no way to get the broken screw out.
I purchased despite the bad reviews because the good outweighed the bad, but I was wrong. LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS TOO!

I've had problems in the past with tripods that would not hold the camera proper over time. This one is doing a great job so far. Time will tell....

This is a wonderful tripod but, if you use it as a pro, you will experience parts missing broken, etc. Their is no manual or parts for sale in the USA. So, if something breaks, falls off during a job, etc., you will need to purchase another one. At a [$] a pop, you will be purchasing at least 2 a year. If you are working with it 4 times a Month. This is my Experience.

Needed a cheap tripod to send off with some young guys shooting on Canon Vixia for a church youth group video. Didn't want to send my Sachtler. You understand..
Well, what a surprise! It's a great tripod! Simple, yet smooth action head. Easy to setup, compact, light, etc, etc.
I bought another one today to send off with another church crew!

Comments about Bescor TH-770 High Performance Tripod System:
This tripod gets the job done. It's nothing spectacular, but for [$], it is surprisingly nice. The quick release plate is convenient, the tripod at full height is pretty tall (5 feet), and it's not very heavy. The included travel bag is a definite plus. Honestly, I don't understand why you would spend thousands of dollars on a tripod, you get similar performance for a much lower price.

Being a producer of art videos ( dance , music) I need something light
& easy to use in odd places. // Having seen the negative reviews.. I was wary.. The tight or stiff levers are that way for not being used.
It is a good piece of equipment. Had a nice manfrotto..this is lighter (much)..

Very pleased with the cost/quality ratio of this tripod.
I need 4 tripods in the near future, and although I'd love to get Vinten tripods I can't afford to. For less than the price of one I'll get 4 and that alright by me.

This tri-pod does the job and is great for the price. The lockdowns might be a bit fragile [...]. If you are on a budget this will get the job done as I do all sorts of shoots. Great tilt and pan action and easy to tote around however I would caution when transporting. It won't be as durable as the next step up models but as long as you are careful you should be able to get more than your moneys worth.

Comments about Bescor TH-770 High Performance Tripod System:
It's smooth, I'll give it that. But, I don't know if it's just my product, but the quick release plate does NOT fit flush on the head. It's just loose enough to screw of shots that would otherwise be perfect. Especially timelapses!!! Also, when I pan around, the head becomes un-level. I can tell this because I will level it using the ball mount and make sure it's perfect with the bubble, and then when I pan at all, the bubble gets off center. POINTLESS TO LEVEL!!!!
I would NOT buy this again. I've had it for about a year and a half, and every time I use it, I regret the fact that I purchased it.
An extra star because the head is smooth. Otherwise, worthless.

I finally stepped up from the basic style tripod to this one that has 2 stages. I shoot mostly video with my 7D and I needed a quick way to level out my shots. The head unscrews from underneath and is easily adjustable. I use the bubble on the tripod plus the level function in the camera. Together they work perfectly! At full height the tripod isn't spread out too much, which is great if you need to be in a smaller space. For the price, this is the best tripod I found that has 2 stages, mid level spreader, and the head can be adjusted and balanced easily.
Haven't used it a great deal, but so far the pan and tilt are pretty smooth too.

Lightweight and secure. Supports our Sony XDCam Cameras.
Snap-on plate works very well and lets you know when the camera is properly mounted. Purchased two of them. Will probably buy more.
