The Vixen VMC330L is a deep-sky observer's dream instrument, allowing one to see practically anything on the star map that's likely a waste of viewing and slewing time with smaller telescopes. With 272% more light gathering capacity than Vixen's 8" scopes, this unique scope offers Maksutov-Cassegrain-like design in a gigantic package that's perfect for a permanent location such as a backyard observatory. It also makes a great imaging tool.
Consisting of Pyrex® spherical mirrors, Vixen's improvement upon the Maksutov design incorporates a 2-element corrector lens in front of the secondary mirror. This system tidily corrects spherical aberration and field curvature, but also eliminates the need for a heavy, expensive chunk of glass found in conventional Maksutov designs. The resulting open tube design cools quickly and does not suffer from dew condensation problems.
Enormous 13" aperture makes for easily viewed and photographed faint nebulae
