The camera is designed to record in high definition on standard SecureDigital (SD) and SHDC memory cards. While SD-based camcorders have been gaining ground in the consumer market, the AG-HMC150 has the ability to record AVCHD images at significantly higher bitrates. This enhancement makes the camera more efficient than comparable HD interframe codecs, such as HDV and XDCAM EX. Using H.264 as its compression algorithm, the camera can record incredibly detailed images at a fraction of the file size.

Hi this is Mr. ETV--I use this camera for shooting documentaries, short promotional videos for schools and industrial training. I have 25-years of experience in writing, editing, photography and producing. This is a great camera for shooting HD on a budget. I dare you to compare it side-by-side with anything else in the price range--In fact, compare it to the cameras priced $2000 higher. I'm certain you'll be pleased. The dials, switches, rings, and menu controls are very user friendly. The color and detail are sharp.
If I could change anything about this camera, I would put a bigger lens on it. Also be aware that the video becomes a little choppy in fast panning shots, but this is not enough to be concerned.

Bought two of these cameras for weddings. Rock solid performance. Easy to operate. Custom settings in a dial form on the back was a genius design. Very good in low-light for a HD camera. Audio is a little too heavy on the bass.
